Haley at the Cosmopolitan August 15-17

I know I’m late to the party on here. I planned on posting to HaleyFans while in Vegas or shortly afterward but my best intentions certainly didn’t produce results. This past weekend, I was one of many ardent Haliens in attendance at the Cosmo in Vegas and what a weekend! It was everything I hoped it would be and more! Great music, company and altogether a great experience made better by sharing it as a group. It was great to meet new Haliens and greet old friends in Vegas. Everyone was so nice and inclusive and so much fun to be around.

Many special memories were made which I will cherish and remember forever. Here are just a few that stick out in my mind; the comradely of late night dessert and breakfast with new friends, Haley wanting to take Swan’s and my picture (when actually I tried to move out of the way just before that when I didn’t realize she wanted me in a picture), meeting Tusk for the first time and having a get acquainted lunch (and finding out he is every bit as nice in person as he is on here and twitter) having congratulatory drinks with Keith and Haley, the kindness of a late night escort, nice encounters with Chiara, getting to talk to Haley and Keith and maybe even best of all, when Haley thanked her fans that Keep Coming Back. That moment really touched me.

I’d like to think that I came away with many new friends from last weekend and that we’ll get to meet up again sometime soon. Also, I’d like to thank Airhigh for graciously offering me a ride to the airport early Sunday morning and to Iscat4Haley for riding shotgun. I got there in plenty of time!

I did upload one video that Miguel had posted for me, the first night of My Cake that I took with my iPhone. I’ll post another video and some pictures if I figure it out correctly.

Thanks. I realized that just as you sent me the message! How about posting pictures? Do you need to upload them to photobucket or some other site or can you browse for them in your computer?

yes, you can open a photobucket acct and upload them there, but I've found out it's easier to tweet them. when you tweet them, twitter gives it a url (web address) you can use when you look in 'properties' of the tweeted pic

When I tweeted the pic below. from my camera, it gained a url. Right click the pic and click properties. Look for and copy the url (web address) ending in 'jpg' (sometimes 'Large' after 'jpg', you don't need that just the 'jpg')



Then click the button that looks like a mountain in your control panel, paste the pic's url then click "OK".... Voila

I personally think this suppression algorithm leads to some odd dampenings and cut-offs in the ambience sound that are at least as distracting as the crowd in the original. For an audio like this, I think it is ok to have crowd ambience, it really is a bar setting after all, but ideally it would be even and not too strong. If the algorithm kind of now cuts in and weaves around and fades out here and there as a function of what else is going on, that makes, it seems, for an unnatural result, at least to my ear. So if I had to choose, I'd stick with the unsuppressed version. I expect it probably requires pretty sophisticated technology and experience to do it well. Thanks, Tusk, for experimenting with it - the thought probably has crossed everybody's mind!

Thanks for all the welcomes! Listen Up! is at around 250.000 in CD sales rank on German amazon and at around 100.000 in mp3 albums, way down in nowhere land. Clearly, more people need to find it! Only 1 rating comment posted and that is by me - Casey's album has two, both people saying (in German) that they found him on youtube. So I am thrilled for that reason, too, that you made such good videos and are posting them!

Actually the noise suppression wasn't mine, I have it as an option, but I also hear a distracting audio residue from the dampening. I'm not an expert so I thought I would put it out for consumption and opinion

The piano and voice are clearer, but the dampening effect is too noticeable for me

I'll probably delete it after a few other opinions

Here is "What You Don't Know". It's surprising that you can get a pretty good video with just an iPhone. Of course, I had the best seat in the house, right up by the stage to get it.

As much as I enjoy this forum & every posted clip of Haley sometimes I think they are all a bane rather than a boon. She is so much better live it is almost a injustice. Nothing against your great work Tusk, just a little plea to Haliens who havn't seen her live yet; fly, drive, walk, crawl, traverse the deep blue sea. It is so worth it............
