RE: Reinharts (w/ Haley) at McCartney Concert Milwaukee
REVIEW: Quote:Paul McCartney did not play "When I'm Sixty-Four" at a sold out Miller Park Tuesday night.
He's 71 now. He's already been there, done that.
Some may wonder why he still keeps working at this point in his life and career. If any man has any right to phone it in, to simply call it a day, certainly it's McCartney, one of the greatest musical contributors of all time.
But he keeps going, probably because, like the ancient electric guitar he strummed Tuesday night during "Paperback Writer," the very same one he said he used to record that song in 1966, he still rocks.
For his fifth Milwaukee concert in five decades (including a lone Beatles gig in '64, and a rainy Milwaukee County Stadium show two decades ago this year), McCartney treated the crowd of 43,000 to 44,000, the largest attendance for a non-baseball event in Miller Park history, to 38 songs and nearly three hours of material. Songs spanned from those Beatles gems like "Eight Days a Week" to high-flying Wings tunes like "Hi, Hi, Hi" to a lovely new original, "My Valentine," released last year.

When I was at the October 2nd, 2010 Farm Aid concert there (at the same time Haley was a couple miles away for her callback audition at the Milwaukee Art Museum) the roof was closed and the acoustics weren't that hot because of it. I shot this poor video when Steven Tyler made a quick trip over to Miller Park at the end of the concert after judging Haley, to sing with Willie Nelson:

Probably not, but it would be cool, wouldn't it? From something Harry said to me I suspect there might have been some special meet & greet set up at the Hotel that Paul was staying at after the show. I think the Reinharts stayed the night at the same Hotel.
I wonder if Harry's duet partner Peter Quinn had to do their regular tuesday night Firkin gig as a solo. That would be one of the very few times, even during Haley's Idol run, that Harry couldn't make it to Firkin on a Tuesday. Even after Haley's Monday Carnegie Hall show and the partying the Reinharts did into the wee hours of the morning with the Abrams, then took a morning flight from NYC back to Ohare, Harry was only awake on adrenilin when I saw him that night playing at Firkin with virtually no sleep.

Quote:The show became legendary one song into the first encore when the remaining members of Nirvana — Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, and Pat Smear — came onstage for “Cut Me Some Slack.” They wrote this tune together, and played it once before at this year’s Grammy Awards, in a lineup the press dubbed “Sir-Vana
Ughhhhh..... I thought about going to this show, but the only tickets available were the nose bleeds, I hate Seattle traffic even during non event commutes, and $300 for Suite seats was prohibitive seeing as I would rather spend it on seeing Haley (forgive me, John, Paul, George and Ringo )
Might have been my only chance to see Paul perform live
(I've seen Ringo perform twice at the Gorge, once with Joe Walsh)
PS Another event whence McCartney has shown a fondness for Mr Grohl. David Grohl has lived a charmed life, to have been a member of an Iconic band, have a successful career in his own right, and to have played with and for Paul McCartney as much as he has.....
Sad that Nirvana ended so tragically, but from those ashes, He has risen to become quite a Rock and Roll artist in his own right.

Arrggghhh
Quote:Paul urged the Nirvana guys to stay, so they joined his band for most of the encores. Their version of “Helter Skelter,” with a sharp punk edge, would have made John Lennon, or Kurt Cobain, proud.
There's Video !!!!
