RE: The Seattle SeaTusks & DenNUG Broncos!
Tusk, Cherelann, and NUG, I thought of all of you yesterday as the Niners/Hawks game was going down.
Back in the Bill Walsh/Joe Montana days, my bf du jour (it was actually longer than a day) was from the Bay Area, and I became quite a Niner fan. (Truth be told, I wasn't even aware that Seattle had a football team -- I'm not really sports fan.) But that was many years ago.
FF to now and I've been so impressed with the way Russel Wilson has approached his opportunity and the way that he conducts himself. He's had some rough times this year and yesterday was no exception, but whether through force of will or "miracle" (and I'm not one to buy into that), or taking advantage of an opportunity, the Hawks pulled through yesterday, and I'm so happy for and proud of them and their fans -- Sherman's chat with EA and the Hawks fans' reaction to a Niner injury, notwithstanding.
And, NUG, I couldn't be happier that the Hawks are playing the Broncos! Although, does that make us enemies now?
Since I've already confessed my sports ignorance, when was the last time that both teams playing the Super Bowl were from west of the Mississippi?

Himm, thank you for your kind response to my professed ignorance. I don't know whether you looked it up, or that you just might retain that sort of information in your head, but thank you for answering.
So, in a tradition entering its 48th year, this is only the 3rd time that both teams are from west of the Mississippi. I'm not quite sure why I find this significant -- and maybe it isn't -- but I do.
Frankly, I'm happy for both NUG (Denver Broncos) and our Washington contingency (Tusk, Cherelann, and me -- or should that be MAE?) that our respective teams will play the Super Bowl! And may the better team win!
I also want to give a shout out to those who chose Ann Wilson to sing the National Anthem and Macklemore for the half time performance. Very, very smart approach!

No, I'm one of those horrid things called, Fair Weather Fans - DH and I rarely watch football (or baseball or hockey...). I could never be enemies with someone over a sport!! It is fun to have the home team in the super bowl though!
NUG, I'm not sure I can even be called a "fair weather fan." I pay attention to this stuff, but I'm rarely invested.
But I am happy for the SeaHawks team and their fans. Both have done a lot to make this trip happen, and I wish them the best. I'm sure the same can be said in/of Denver.
You're right -- it is fun to have the home team in the Super Bowl!
So we'll keep it fun and friendly, right?
