Man, oh man, I wish this group had been on my radar before this morning. They're going to be performing in Seattle at the Neptune Theater (same place that Tusk will hear ZZ Ward next month) on Tuesday.

Ironically, with the above tune and her recording of A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, she and HCJ have some similar tastes. I prefer Rachel's versions to Harry's.

ordered three of their albums after starting to listen to MAEs first link haha.. wow....
... only took about 10 minutes to get all the albums bought and onto my phone for my 9 pm 45 minute walk with my dog ... I get great sound on my good earbuds (fit is as important as anythign I think)


the cover album was amazing and thought there wasn't any higher to go then I got started in on their Eponynymous (Live Street Dive) album and
it was almost too good...by the time i got through the 4rth song "My Heart's In Its Right Place" I was almost fainting haha.. insane album build up and I was like "you said it all bro amen" ... what else needs to be said....

... and then another great song after that.

I do listen to every single note the horn player is playing and tick of the drums and track the the bass and keyboards threads... keeping track of 5 4 people? 6 instruments (seems to be a guitar getting picked up and a piaon now and then) so beutifully intertwined is sort of transcendent but whoa... its a lot of steak and cabernet and rasberry chocolate tarts that keep coming on !...

Each of the musicians have such a confident "voice" of their very own.. they really know who each of them are and have something to say...yet just mesh well. The Trumpet player has got really his own style... both lyrically and the way he approaches notes.. almost sounds like a French Horn player in his soft use of the keys and his armature... from a very breif glance I guess they met at a music conservatory somewhere... I'm sure, like the Pentatonix that the might have an immense sense of the sweep of music history and probably can draw easily even as they're sticking to their one sound of their own.

Really there are too many good ones to begin to link.....(MAE did a great intial platter !)
... especially their own songs... which really I don't think are really made to watch on youtube .. .so much to digest that I woudln't get them sitting at a computer....

but this cover is so funny/silly and easy to get a musical head around without needing to digest for people who don't like to think too hard while listening.

I first heard of LSD in January when someone bumped a 2012 thread on another board. In doing so, they mentioned another artist and them possibly getting more exposure from a movie and a Showtime special. Don't know if the latter were centered around LSD or if they just made an appearance.

I think that LSD has just appeared, like many other artists. I suspect the show is "Another Day, Another Time," a concert "inspired by the Coen brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis. The TV show features "live performances of the film's music, as well as songs from the early 1960s. Performers include the Avett Brothers, Joan Baez, Dave Rawlings Machine, Rhiannon Giddens, Lake Street Dive, Colin Meloy, The Milk Carton Kids, Marcus Mumford, Punch Brothers, Patti Smith, Willie Watson, Gillian Welch, and Jack White, as well as the star of the film Oscar Isaac." It's not clear to me that LSD have a song in the film.

As my first post about this group mentioned, they are appearing tonight in Seattle, then travel down the West Coast (Portland tomorrow, followed by S.F., L.A., and Solana Beach beginning Friday night in S.F., all to sold out houses.

Good for them! It's only taken them ten years to become an "overnight success."

And Tom, glad you like them. Considering that you "gifted" me with Pentatonix, now it would seem that I've reciprocated.

Given how good that bass player is, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the group wasn't on both Haley's and Casey's radar! I think it would be interesting to hear both Casey and Bridget play off each other.

I learned about Lake Street Dive while watching “Another Day, Another Time” on Showtime. T Bone Burnett, producer of the soundtrack for “Inside Llewyn Davis”, invited Lake Street Dive along with the other bands to perform and promote the music in the film. They performed “You Go Down Smooth” at The Town Hall in NYC. I don’t think it is part of the soundtrack. T Bone Burnett also produced the music for “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”, another Coen Brothers’ movie.
