I extend my extreme gratitude to Tusk, Babbs, Miguel and Team HaleyFans. I am immensely glad that you are incredibly generous in sharing your encounters and experiences with Haley, Irvin Mayfield Jr., NOJO and Patti and capturing them in pics and video for all of us to enjoy. It helps to ease the blues of not being there in person.

I want to thank Tusk for your excellent, detailed and clearly written recaps of your time with Haley and Irvin Mayfield Jr. at his Playhouse. I enjoy reading them since we are then able to see to a degree what you see. Couple your stories with your great pics and videos and it really allows us to feel close to the action. Being able to see Haley’s performance of At Last at the after after party was a very pleasant surprise. It was so intimate and naked so to speak, Haley’s gorgeous voice accompanied tenderly by the piano and trumpet.

Hearing the adaption of Rock music into Jazz is special. I always find the mixing and matching of different genres to be exciting. I especially enjoy Smells Like Teen Spirit and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Haley was in the zone with Irvin Mayfield and NOJO. I can only remotely imagine how they sounded live with the full force of the HOB acoustics and sound system.

I want to give a special special thanks to Tusk for the snippet of Over The Rainbow. Of all the songs Haley performed, Over The Rainbow is my favorite for sentimental reasons. Ever since Rachel mentioned that Haley performed the song in Puerto Vallarta. I’ve been yearning to hear Haley sing it. Haley sounded beautiful in the small sampling; her tone and delivery are perfect for the song. I’m praying for a full listen at a future Haley gig.

This is from after the "after party" when only a few were left, Irvin, Haley, Patti and others were messing around. I got permission from both Haley and Irvin to be able to post.... I wish the audio was better, live, it was chill inducing...

The audio was fine-the "chill" came through loud and clear.There were some fine moments from the concert itself but this is an absolute gem of a performance.One of those spontaneous things that just gelled perfectly.

Haley's range-as if I needed to be reminded of it -is a thing to behold, from belting it out in front of a big band to this kicked back rendition of this song.Goosebumps indeed.

They produced another spontaneous classic. The intimate, late night, after-after, dimly lit context adds to the overall wonder of the piece.

I literally sprung out of my chair as soon as they were done, headed to Irvin's to ask permission, it was that obvious how good it was

I have never appreciated trumpet playing as I did Irvin's during this moment, the notes coming out of his horn was so pure, it was literally thrilling. I've been so lucky to hear Haley's vocals dance with other musicians, live, whether vocal or instrumental, she's so adept at performing intuitively with others.

It was like they were both still in the zone from the concert but now all the pressure is off and now they can just relax and let everything flow.The music for the concert was intense and complex and-unfortunately it sounded like the audience alot of the time was pretty noisy.So there must have been something in the intimacy and the silence of the room afterward that helped produce something special.

I love hearing trumpet in that kind of setting and Irwin really made it sing and Haley has shown before that she can shine in these spontaneous kinds of situations

And the low light worked perfectly.I recently watched the HBO series Treme which is set in New Orleans in which Irwin appeared as himself and the video you shot managed to somehow capture something of New Orleans.

Actually I had to brighten the video up to get more detail, the original is a bit darker. I was lucky my camera could pick up what it did with so little lighting

I had decided, after At Last, the performances from Wednesday, could not live up to At Last's 'wake', so maybe I might not post them...

There's something to not "saturating the market" I think providing so many videos can cause a "taking for granted" attitude, a dilution of the product, so to speak. Better to just post the exceptional ones, or ones with significance. I kind of learned that with BGDays, especially with Vegas.

Then I reconsidered, especially with Haley's "Full circle, right?" comment, I will post her performance of GBTC. Unfortunately, the spot at the bar which resulted in me sitting right next to Irvin, also meant increased crowd noise/chatter.

Oh well, take the good with the bad. It should be up in around an hour. It's a 10 min+ video, so taking time for my laptop to process

It's also a video of Irvin's place while it was busy during business, as opposed to the after party

I've had a crazy busy weekend so I will watch all the videos either late tonight (when the house has no distractions) or after work tomorrow night. I can't wait to see/hear everything!!

Those two girls (in the pink and green sweater) sitting right of center in the in Irvin's classroom interview audience, were with Babbs, Pat, Miguel and me after the show at the House of Blues, I helped take one of the photos of one of them with Haley

I think that's the first time they've seen Haley perform, maybe they were Haley's guests because by that time, everybody was supposed to be out of there, but we were with Nikki while Patti went to go get Haley.

Nikki showed the pass she had hanging around her neck, the security looked at her "Do you want these people here?" she nodded yes, and we were allowed to wait for Haley. I think the girls had the same passes as Nikki had, so they must've been Haley's guests or Irvin's
