I'm still not clear on the value of these OTT numbers in FB... by many metrics that seem to count, it feels like Creep is far outdistancing AATB. Creep is still selling really well on iTunes, and people recognize that 4 million Youtube views in 17 days days is still cause to celebrate.... and here we have FB with 10s of millions of views, what does that mean exactly? These numbers don't feel like they have tangible effect outside the FB world...It just feels like outside of FB, Creep is by far the more successful of the two collaborative efforts.

So besides, name recognition and accolades, what do these outlandish numbers on FB really mean?

I think it is mostly just name recognition and positive exposure. Who knows what a FB view is worth, but not a lot. 27 million is something although less than what the number would seem to imply. I think a lot of people look at FB through the day and when a friend links to the video they check it out. But even when the person likes the song and the video it is likely to end right there, perhaps with a Like click. Maybe a comment like "That was cool, I wondered what Haley was up to. She has an amazing voice." Back to work for a while, then a cool video of some kid doing an outrageous stunt off a moving trampoline comes along and that is the new focus.

I tend to think it's sort of a FB 'psychology', sharing things and liking things, sort of a media/data transitionary network which also lends itself to 'oh that was yesterday's news' kind of short attention span mentality...

it's the one social media platform I can't get myself to engage in from it's lengthy history of shenanigans.

(I know Google is as bad, if not worse, but Google has made itself a 'necessary evil' in many ways, so it's a boil I have to live with )

Not boring " talent" that I often see that thinks that they can sing in public with their "karaoke voices" .
