He hasn't posted them here yet but the vids Steve/Himm2 took in Minneapolis are really good....like REALLLLY GOOOOD!!! I won't overstep my bounds and put them here without his permission. I'll leave that up to Himm when/if he wants but they are definitely worth checking out.
The encore is SO much fun. Really bummed I couldn't get the girls to Philly for the show tomorrow night.

I don't know if Tusk had the same problem as I did with the horrible lighting design at Lincoln Hall in Chicago but there was never a direct spotlight on Haley which made her in shadow for many of my videos I shot from the balcony. They may have tried to add drama but their lighting failed in showcasing Haley as the Star. That's why my videos in Minneapolis look good...they always had a highlight on Haley. Plus I had some background chatter in the balcony.

Greg had issues w/ lighting as well, and it does seem the best spot was in front of the stage, while dark, I think I should be able to do some post editing to lighten it up somewhat, as long as the detail is there....



Otherwise, it did make for some good 'mood lighting'....



I wouldn't have accomplished this detail in stage lights w/ my iPhone as a camera, so glad I figured out a way to use my point and shoot canon and still get useful audio w/o the clipping

It is no secret that my favorite “unknown” band is the Strawbs. I say unknown because the band has been around in some form since 1964, but, to my knowledge, has never appeared on American television.

Sure, the group sold millions of albums in the 1970s, but most people reading this column still haven’t heard this folk/prog/rock band. That the group is starting its American tour in the Philly area (with two shows Friday at the Sellersville Theater, at 24 W. Temple Ave., Sellersville), is a tribute to Delaware Valley fans, who have sold out nearly every local concert by the band over the last 43 years.

People always ask me, “How can you like a band like the Strawbs and be a fan of “American Idol” also-rans?” The answer is simple. I like lots of music. If I can sing or hum along to it, I’m a fan.

So yes, I love the jazz/rock fusion of the Mahavishnu Orchestra and the new age sounds of George Winston. I’ve been to a few Bob Dylan shows and still like Janet Jackson and Herb Alpert. If I could, I’d also go see Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals, the California Guitar Trio and Kenny Wayne Shepherd this week.

But back to Haley Reinhart, the third-place finalist on the 2011 season of “American Idol.” Her first album “Listen Up!” is chock full of songs that should have been hits. But as a runner-up to the runner-up, she didn’t get much of a label push. That’s a shame, because “Free,” “Wasted Tears,” “Hit the Ground Runnin’” and “Walking in Heaven” were great songs.

Reinhart just released the new CD “What’s That Sound,” which finds her covering 1960s classics like “Baby It’s You” (Smith), “White Rabbit” (Jefferson Airplane), “Sunny Afternoon” (Kinks), “These Boots are Made for Walking” (Nancy Sinatra) and “The Letter” (Box Tops). Her raspy voice and youthful enthusiasm breathe new life into these chestnuts, as fans will see when she plays the World Café Live, at 3025 Walnut St., Philadelphia, Friday night.

She just played some shows in England, so there is hope for stardom for Reinhart yet. Over there she covered “Black Hole Sun,” “Creep” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” during her set. You have heard her singing that Elvis Presley song on the TV commercial for Extra gum — the one where the guy draws a picture on a gum wrapper and leaves it in a girl’s high school locker.

The Silver Spring show was just cancelled according to the LiveNation ticket site. That's very disappointing. Wonder what happened?

Well, it could be the show was cancelled for one reason or another and she rolled with it. That's her nature.

Drew told me in Chicago that he needed to get back to California for something this week so I think Drew was only at Haley's Minneapolis & Chicago Shows and not with Haley on the east coast for his birthday. Silver Spring was the only date left without an open date on either side of it. It wouldn't surprise me if she had to rest her voice on this date. No Court date or family matter that I'm aware of, and it could be like the 11/2 PMJ cancelled show, There were just not enough tickets sold to justify a performance at that venue.

I was incorrect thinking Twitter's geo location can't be changed, like you can on Instagram (when I post pictures after the fact on Instagram, I locate it at the venue it happened, not where I'm posting)

It's one of those things, sometimes the solution is the simplest one. As someone posted on Twitter, the two venues are merely an hour apart... it's entirely possible that one venue had more attendance than the other, people who had the choice went to Baltimore and not Silver Springs.

This is, of course, Conjecture, but I constantly have to remind myself that I have Haley 'Rose Tinted' glasses on that might cause me to look at things subjectively instead of objectively.

Morgan was able to fill two shows at the Triple Door in Seattle. It baffled me why Team Haley chose "Chop Suey" to be her first venue in Seattle (Morgan's first appearance in Seattle was at the iconic "Jazz Alley").

In my rose tinted, addled mind, I scoffed at the possibility of Haley not doing what Morgan could do....but then you have to factor in the minimalist approach Team Haley has taken to promotion. If you don't promote, fans can't know you're coming... (not to mention a second year in a row where there was confusion as to when the VIP started which resulted in fans missing it )

As it is, "Chop Suey" turned out to be perfectly suited for Haley's show, they were full and everyone there was excited to see Haley. If you recall, my last post about seeing Morgan in Seattle, I noted that most of the Morgan fans who I talked to, didn't really know who Haley was.... so maybe my understanding of demand for Haley is a bit inflated.

This by no means is a reflection on Haley and her popularity....in my mind, it is more an issue of operations, planning and scheduling... something Haley would have others take care of.

So the easiest answer is they scheduled two venues too close to each other to fill out both, on back to back nights. Most went to Baltimore, leaving Silver Springs wanting....

All my opinion and conjecture. We could all be wrong, but I do think that it's not like Haley to take cancelling a show lightly.

What I CAN tell you is, when I spoke to Harry at last year's BGDays about postponing the Euro tour, he told me Haley really hated that she had to wait to announce the postponement, but she had no choice...she hated not letting fans know. I don't think she would cancel the show w/o a legitimate reason....going on a Bday trip isn't the reason the show was cancelled IMO

I can imagine the let down, but I believe Haley would avoid this if she could.....maybe too late to mention now, but some who were going to the Silver Springs show are now going to make the hour drive to Baltimore to see her there....it's possible an arrangement could be made to accept your SS ticket? If you're willing, try to contact Haley's management to see if that's possible? info@srmgt.net

I saw Haley in Portland a 3 hour drive and was happy to be able to make the 3 hour return drive after the show to see Haley in Seattle the next day
