It's that time of year again, folks. School has started again; there is much to divert our attention, at all times, not just while driving. One of my co-workers saw an accident on the way to work this morning. This is her description (with some editing -- in italics):
"This morning I passed by a collision involving a school bus and a teenage driver. It was in the school zone that runs between the high school and elementary and middle schools (
in the town where she lives ); the collision happened right outside my son’s preschool. The high school driver t-boned the school bus, forcefully enough to drive her car underneath the bus clear up through her windshield. I drive through there every day, and given the numerous teenagers I see texting and talking while driving, I can imagine what happened."
One of the researchers she works with has been conducting research regarding texting and other cellphone use while driving (those in the Pac NW may have already seen this):
