Officers broke the locks and Dotcom barricaded himself into a safe room which officers had to cut their way through to gain access.
"Once they gained entry into this room, they found Mr Dotcom near a firearm which had the appearance of a shortened shotgun," he said. "It was definitely not as simple as knocking at the front door."
...The house where Dotcom was arrested was one of the largest and most expensive in the country, worth around NZ$30 million.

Quote:As for the mansion, it too seems to have been pulled from the movies. Local news footage shows a sprawling, castle-like complex with a sign out front that reads “Dotcom mansion.” Secrecy apparently isn’t a Dotcom family trait.

I downloaded 17 large files, over 16 GB, from HipHopgamer via Megaupload as part of Haley's video journey. The site would let you download a couple at a time and then start bombarding you with messages about subscribing to get faster downloads. After a few downloads it would not let you do anymore until the next day. It took about 3-4 days to download all the files using their free version of Megaupload...hence the name is not Megadownload, unless you pay.
The articles portrayed Mr Dotcom like a super-villain in an old James Bond movie...and then they had to send in 007, Sean Connery, to find and put an end to the Megaupload. New Zealand must still be abuzz about the German megalomaniac...Mr Dotcom.
By the way, the 3-1/2 hours of video of Haley's journey on AI is so worth the time and effort. HipHopgamer on Idol Forums has a link to these files for download...he no longer uses Megaupload and has streamlined the download process. Since I lost everything I had on my DVR from last year this is a great comeback.
