...The stars first: Casey Abrams strummed on an upright bass and worked himself into “Georgia On My Mind” in a way that made it hard to figure out what song he was singing at all. He made it his own, as they say. Then a soft-featured man who is a spa concierge by day did damage to “God Bless The Child.” He ran out of the auditorium and straight into the arms of two waiting women who held him, while he cried like he was being healed. Lauren Alaina delivered a very Idol version of “Don't Wanna Miss A Thing,” and Jacee Badeaux drew out a classy laud from J. Lo: “It's my pleasure to listen to you.” Can we all agree she's making a good case for giving “Monster-in-Law” another chance the next time it plays on TBS? Haley Reinhart growlsang and it was nearly impossible to make out the words, but it was a very melodic growl. All the while she knew “her future hangs in the balance,” according to Seacrest. Did she really? If so, please set her straight, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhart. A future of not being America's next Idol is still a future, as 68 recent entrants can attest. Clint Jun Gamboa wore yet another pair of glasses, this time the same ones as the Monopoly man. For some reason the only remaining Gutierrez boy went the way of his brother. What happened to them?

There was only one surprise unveiled during last night's results show, and it wasn't the results. Anyone who's followed all season can't deny Scotty's and Lauren's unceasing, aw-shucks march to confetti. These two were crowned the moment they auditioned, and impressive as Haley often was, especially toward the end, she was unfortunately never a bankable threat. Her M.O. was to take risks. On Idol, you may as well shove a gun down your throat.

According to Beyoncé, Scotty is charming, Lauren should stick to fun songs, and Haley is "a rock star."

...Haley's trio was Zeppelin's "What Is And What Should Never Be," Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon," and "You Outta Know," by Alanis. She did the second two justice to be sure, looking as dreamy for her Stevie Nicks impression as one can with an enormous fan blowing in face. But the biggest stunner was the Zeppelin number, which she chose on her own. There's something about Haley that seems too self-assured for Idol, too cool, and this was the embodiment of it. No one so far has been as confident and wild as she was spinning around the stage and picking herself up from the nothing fall, her vocals on. With her dad strumming guitar at her side, she looked for all the world like the director, producer and star of...yes, a Haley Reinhart concert.

Nice of you to dig up that stuff. Haley is way too cool for Idol and she came to own that stage.

On the Charts: Adele Continues to Dominate
...So far, she's doing everything right, particularly building buzz with a concert tour by "underplaying" venues, such as the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, rather than abruptly jumping to summer amphitheatres that she probably is still too new to sell out. Easter Weekend helped her sales, as did Haley Reinhart's red-polka-dotted-dress version of her unstoppable single "Rolling in the Deep" on American Idol last week. (The single also hit Number One on iTunes' weekly chart.)....

I knew Haley would be the one to go. This is not a contest for a pole dancer and that is what Haley brought to the stage every time she stepped on it.

You may be correct as to the music that is selling now. And that's a shame. But Haley was true to herself as a musical artist and that is exactly what she is. She sang from the heart and her delivery was passionate. And that's what music is all about. She doesn't seem to be the type to sell out to whatever type of music is currently the fad. Her performances were ALWAYS entertaining because you had no idea what she would do with a song. Her performances were always innovative and energetic. Her stage presence was fantastic. Obviously a bit sensual but certainly no where near so as that guest artist or current hip hop music. She has been accused of being arrogant because she sometimes didn't agree with the judges criticisms. I applaud her for that. Especially after they criticized her for chosing unfamiliar songs and subsequently choose a rather obscure song for her. Regardless, I think she earned the respect of true musicians in the industry and will consequently have a successful career and one that will be satisfying to her because she will be true to herself. And I'm guessing that you will be seeing her as a guest vocalist for the likes of musicians like Carlos Santana because any musician would LOVE to be a part of the music that might be produced from such a collaboration.
