I never really listened to WOH that closely, but tonight I put on a good pair of earphones and went through the whole song. Haley really shines around 2:30. You can hear her background vocals and at the end Herry puts out avery good solo. This could be my new favorite song of hers.

Seventies classic rock at it's finest ...
The Incredibly underrated Jeff Lynn and the Electric Light Orchestra
:heart::heart:

^ Special thanks for that post T-Man -- Mom says she never would have been stoned enough to let dad "bop" her were it not for ELO. So technically, I guess, I owe Jeff Lynn my life.
It truly is amazing how good they sound live. That's what I love most about classic rock, they had real talent and musicianship, no over-production required.
"The Incredibly underrated Jeff Lynn", for sure. Wasn't he like the only constant member over the years (singer, song writer, guitarist, producer, etc.)?
ELO could have been rightfully named The Jeff Lynn Project. Which brings me to "Tales of Mystery and Imagination: Edgar Allan Poe". That Alan Parsons Project album is my personal favorite from the "British Invasion" of the 70s. (The story of why I was born gives light to why we call it an "invasion".)
Do you like Alan Parsons and/or "The Alan Parsons Project"? I don't think he performed live until years later, but if you have anything from the early years I'd love to see it. Here's one from 1995. But I think an appreciation of Poe's deliciously gory story "Tell Tale Heart" is a prerequisite to enjoy it.

Later on in Jeff Lynn's career he sang briefly with a group called Traveling wollburies. The group consisted of Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison. They made a few albums and they were pretty good at the time it was kinda like a grass roots album. A little trivia.

Well, I guess I have another thing to thank Jeff Lynne and ELO for LOL
Jeff Lynne is a HUGE Beatles fan and you can hear their influence in his songs and became great friends with the late great George Harrison (RIP ) . He is an amazing producer and the glue that held the Traveling Wilbury's together. I have transferred my love of ELO to my 3 year old niece, Brooke. When we go out together in the car, She and I have a blast singing "Mr Blue Sky" (well she tries, but just ends up just giggling at my off key attempts ) Although, now, Mr Blue Sky has been replaced by "Oh My"
Here's Jeff, Tom Petty, George's son, Dhanni, and Prince( with a kick a$$ guitar solo) performing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
I discovered Alan Parsons in the '80's with "Eye in the Sky" (Another Beatles' connection, the two primary members met at Abbey Road Studios)
And another APP favorite, "Games People Play"
Great Stuff

Dhanni certainly looks like his dad.
Tusk, I've now listened to the Alan Parsons Project posts. You're right -- it is great stuff. I wish I'd heard it then!
