IMO she was at the top of her game in her first two albums. Love the young Mariah, but the girl is really struggling singing accapella in this vid. Yikes

It's not acapella, They isolated her vocals from the actual performance....
Actually, I feel bad for her this leaked, unlike a guitar or trumpet, you can't go buy a new set of vocal chords when the old set wears out. Plus the notes she hit when she was younger, normal people couldn't hit with healthy vocal chords :/

Yea. As much as Mariah's personality annoyed me on Idol, until I heard Haley..Mariah was my favorite voice of all time.
She's gotten older, and she's unable to sing as high as she used to. That's normal. What Steven Tyler does is crazy. (especially considering what he put his vocal chords through.) She also probably doesn't have as good of breath control as she used to, considering she's in her 40s (Maybe 50s?). It also seems pretty obvious she can't hear herself. (Was it outside?)

yeah things do ware out when ya get older. I hope she avoids vocal steroid treatment ( long term) I didn't see any stage monitors to here what she is singing.She probably has a ear monitors

Not very good but I agree with Tusk that it is unfair and I feel bad for her the way it was released.
In my opinion, a good singer always reacts and interacts with the accompaniement in a way that would be very different than if purposely sung acapela.. where a singer is also responsible for marking time with phrasing and might vocally fill out a chord progress with runs and accent notes instead of other types of embellishments when the keybord bass and guitar players together do that.
As it is the runs are terrible and gratuitous and certainly her voice is breaking but without hearing it with a band I can't gage if any of it was for over-all effect.
I'd try to be a bit charitable because of all that, but yeah...at her prime the same sneaky track would be far better regardless of those rationalizations I make
