Yes, Yanni, thank you for going to the show, taping, and posting this. While this isn't one of my favorites from Casey's original CD, it's a good song, nonetheless, and this is certainly a nice rendition of it.
Quinton remains a complete mystery to me. On this song he demonstrates a really solid ability -- and likely what Casey's father was thinking of when he was recommending/praising him so much at that City Walk performance. He's not Keith Phelps, but he's doing some really good and musically interesting stuff. (However, that piano in Room 5 sounds like the old upright piano in every elementary school in the country -- with the exception that it is, at least, tuned. Or, perhaps, it's the acoustics in the room. Or maybe it's my small laptop speakers -- although when I'm listening to any of the radio channels that I tune into, the sound isn't bad. In any case, it's not good -- and, while I may not have mentioned it before, it's always bothered me.*)
And then there are the Quinton performances when it seems as though he hasn't a clue what he's doing at that keyboard.
He's a puzzlement...
*Please know that I realize that space dictates that piano needs to be small. Also, I recognize that this "room" is somewhat of an experiment and I should be grateful for the performances that take place that I've gotten to hear second hand. I truly hope the new restaurant will recognize that there is value to what's happening in it -- and, in doing so, will invest a little to make the acoustics better. And either get a better piano, or take it out and require that anyone needing a piano bring his/her own (electric keyboard).

Thanks Babbs and MAE, I've been fortunate to be able to see many of these local gigs and am happy to share them with everyone. MAE, I understand what you mean when you're talking about Quinton being a bit of a mystery, some songs he really nails it, while other times maybe not so much. Personally, I think he is very talented on the piano, I usually enjoy what he adds to the performance. Maybe there's a few songs he's not really up to speed on, which could explain some inconsistencies. He doesn't have quite the improvisational skills that Keith does. And yes, they REALLY need to get a new piano at Room 5, it's pretty old and basic. Casey really has assembled a pretty solid core of musicians, Jacob is insane on the sax, plus they are always just having so much fun on stage, which in turn makes for a great show. Also, we don't mention Zack, the clarinet player much here on HF. He's no slouch either.
And MAE, have a great time at the show this Sunday!
