Kelly Clarkson now with Atlantic. Putting out soul album
Quote:Woohoo! Kelly Clarkson is going to release a new solo album after signing a record deal with Atlantic Records.
The 'Mr. Know It All' singer began teasing a major announcement this week when she sang live covers on Facebook every day, leading to the big reveal earlier.
"What's cool about Atlantic, too, is that they love every part of my personality," she said.
"I love the country side of me and I love the Broadway side of me and I love the pop side of me and the soulful side of me, and they're really down to make whatever record I'm into which I'm super excited about."
Atlantic CEO Craig Kallman and Atlantic COO Julie Greenwald said: "We are thrilled to welcome Kelly Clarkson into the Atlantic family.
"She is one of the greatest artists of our generation, a musical icon with an extraordinary, soul-inspired voice that has captivated millions of fans around the world.
"We are honoured to be partnering with Kelly as she embarks on this exciting new phase of her record-breaking career."
The upcoming album, to be released in 2017, will be a collection of soulful covers of other Atlantic artists.
Four of the songs - Radiohead's 'Creep', Coldplay's 'Fix You', Etta James' 'I'd Rather Go Blind' and Indie.Arie's 'Ready For Love' - are currently available for free download on Clarkson's new website.
