Jennifer Lopez just purchased a 2-acre property in the exclusive Water Mill area of the Hamptons, New York. The 14,000-square-foot home boasts seven bedrooms, nine and a half baths and beautiful panoramic water views.

Listed at an incredibly clever price of $17,999,999, the home was built in 2010 and includes heated marble floors in the master bath, multiple walk-in closets and imported limestone flooring in the foyer. Because U.S. limestone just won't do. There's also seven fireplaces -- five inside and two out -- and tons of space for entertaining. There is, of course, a pool and dockage on Mecox Bay.

Mecox Bay is about 100 miles east of Manhattan.

I don't understand the mentality behind such overt opulence. So many people in this country are suffering. 14,000 sq. ft. is a tad excessive IMO.

I agree though, it's extravagant. Her electric bill will be more than my mortgage. I can't imagine purchasing such a house even if I could afford it.
