RE: Haley's in the studio!

Yeah, I don't know what to make of it. The people we know she's working with are an eclectic bunch.
I snipped this a week ago, but didn't post it:
Her Twitter profile says: "Singer/Songwriter. Have songs out with Kelly Clarkson, Joe Cocker, Allison Iraheta, etc... More TBA! "
Everybody's got to eat. And I know some songwriters take jobs with record labels as staff writers. But I'm surprised by how busy they seem to be. I would have thought they would take at least a week working with an artist to hammer out a tune. Or work with the same artist for some time to get a feel for them. But the tweet about Pia and Haley indicates they work with several artists a day.

More info to mull over. While having some musical ability, I don't have the "composition" gene (wish I did), so I can't speak from a point of knowledge, nor do I understand how someone could "on the spot" (so to speak) produce what I consider to be music that quickly.
That said, perhaps what might be happening is that they are bringing in songwriters to "massage/finesse" Haley's songs. Obviously, speculation on my part, but currently we don't have real info.
The age of social media is a curious one. No?

I've thought the same and it's probably true to some extent as Haley's earlier comment indicated some of her songs would be on the album.
But many of these songwriters have ties to past Idols. I was just looking at the tweets from Chris DeStefano and noticed that on 11/3 he retweeted a 19News tweet that said:
Quote:Catch @ScottyMcCreery on tour w/ @BradPaisley! Tickets go on sale tomorrow @10am
So I looked for any ties to Scotty and see he shares writing credit for this Scotty tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Gs_jkxTEvU
He actually shares writing credits with two other writers. That's three in all. That's another thing that bothers me about this production system -- too many chefs.
I work in advertising. There is crappy advertising, sound advertising and great advertising. All are created by combining the talents of multiple people. The latter is the rarest of all though because it is created by pairing a talented copywriter and an art director that mesh well together. If they don't click, the magic doesn't happen. And if it does happen, you still need a client willing to take risks or it won't see the light of day.
So my sense is that on her first album Haley will elevate songs that are considered solid by today's standards (i.e., do a better job of executing than Scotty did on that one above) and, if she's lucky, have two or three songs that are more artistic and widely hailed for their originality.
I don't see her putting out an entire album that is hailed as a classic until she is writing her own music or collaborating with someone else that meshes especially well with her.

It's hard to put out an album in which every song is a blockbuster hit. I agree with you -- Haley's first endeavor is probably not going to be a classic, in part because her audience is too broad to be able to satisfy everyone all the time.
On the other hand, if she makes good choices about what goes on it -- unlike Scotty (I took a brief listen to the link you posted -- ugh!! It took 3 people to write that?? Good grief!) -- she should be fine.
