I think Durbin has done very well for himself and I for one am impressed at his being able to overcome what was a very shakey beginning.

He has made it to this point out of pure focus and hard work, and that is admirable, even if his music is not entirely your cup of tea.

I 100% agree.

He strikes me as a stand-up kind of guy too and true to what he believes.

I also respect that he knows a thing or two about music (and far more than me as a gadfly). He makes his musical choices not out of ignorance but based on what he wants to relate. and a way that relates naturally to him. I've got every confidence he's familiar with the music of charlie parker and tychovsky and has aprreiciated them and comes back to metal not from vapidness but from connection. I could see little glimmers around the edges when he was on idol that added a bit more to things that were pretty simple on the surface.

That doesn't make me particualrly interested though in the story he wants to tell but.. hey, everyone has different passions.
