RE: James Durbin: Era 2.0
I'm happy that Ty left on good terms. Seems he's had enough of life on the road and wants to settle down with his girlfriend Mona in LA. I remember reading tweets between Mona and Dylan's girlfriend Nina during the spring tour and Mona was finding it hard to be apart from Ty. (Yes Ty is a hairstylist and fashion designer, not only did he style the band's hair he also made all their clothes). At least there wasn't any drama or bad blood WRT Ty's leaving, but I'm not sure about Dylan's case.
I don't know if money was an issue but it's interesting that this new lineup contains 4 members instead of 5 and that they're not looking for a new lead guitarist. I don't know if it's because Wind-up/Management wants to keep costs down or because James doesn't want to hire a new lead guitarist. There may be other guitarists out there who can play as well as Dylan but it's difficult to duplicate the chemistry they had. Not replacing Dylan may even be an act of defiance on James part as Dylan is the only guy he ever wanted for lead guitar.
It's hard for me to imagine James being the one who fired Dylan and the impression I get is that James tried to make everything work with Dylan in the equation for era 2.0 but couldn't for some reason. I think this is more likely due to management, as Dylan implies in his tweet that he was told to keep his mouth shut, a few of James tweets were deleted and Heidi tweeted "no choice sometimes". But whatever happened it doesn't look like the situation was handled very well, otherwise Dylan would still do the DC gig on Monday.
I'm going to miss James the showman, now that he's taking over on rhythm guitar he won't be able to perform like this anymore (not everyone can be Angus Young):
We'll see how James and Blake have adjusted to their new roles when they perform at DC on Monday which will be streamed live here:

RE: James Durbin: Era 2.0
LOL, well onstage anyway. There's much less interest nowadays in what metal musos do off stage than back in the 80s when they were super stahs, and therefore less of incentive for said musos to maintain that same "badass image" when they're not performing.
If anyone missed James live acoustic performance at the Kennedy Center last night and would like to see it the whole thing is here:

That is was supposed to be a full band electric show with the original lineup is pretty obvious to me but James did the best he could under the circumstances. He DOES need to hire a new lead guitarist though. Highlights include May, a breathtaking cover of U2's Where The Streets Have No Name, and a teaser of a new song he just wrote. And these two quotes:
"This song is called... Tuning."
"What are you worth?" "What am I worth? For you to decide at the merch booth!"

RE: James Durbin: Era 2.0
Those last two songs sound like they have potential. I prefer James' acoustical performances. He's a great showman, but I think he seems more like a serious musician when he's dressed normally and strumming a guitar.

Sounds like this was a wise strategy:

I thought it would be more relevant in that than here.....
