Here's my problem with other people covering Haleys songs, and it's the same problem I have with Haley covering other peoples songs. Once Haley sings it no other version is good enough to me. Let me explain. When Haley did "Rolling in the Deep", I had never heard the song before she sang it. So, I go look up the original artist (Adele), and while it was ok it did not sound as good to me as Haleys cover did. Same thing with "You and I". Yes, the list could go on. Haley singing a song ruins all other versions for me because SHE IS THAT DAMN GOOD! Now, if she were to write a song for someone else and she herself never performed it then it wouldn't be so bad, except, I would always know it would sound better if Haley performed it. whew! Sorry, I do want her to succeed, but I prefer it if Haley sings Haley written songs!

Same with you, first time I ever heard RITD was Haley's version, and it's not the first time I've heard that. As monster of a hit as it was for Adele, I still hear people saying the first time they heard the song was from Haley  .
All that being said, if Haley was to never perform those songs 'officially', it would be a shame for her not to hear her work as well as make money from them, even if it does mean that someone else makes it a Huge hit....
Who knows, if someone else did end up making an unreleased Haley song a hit, she might be talked into performing one as a "cover"

I feel the same way...and I had never heard Adele sing her song before Haley did, as well. Soon after Haley sang it, it was on the radio CONSTANTLY here - it used to irritate me so much to have to hear it over and over at work on the radio!! I couldn't stand it being sung by Adele because in my mind Haley sung it perfectly.

So, most of you are adding substance to a theory that I've long held: if you like a song, you're most likely to latch on to the first version that you've heard (or, perhaps, it's the version that "registers" as the first time you've heard it) and always compare any other version to that. And, any other version, will most likely fall flat.
Yes, I know -- it's because Haley's so good. Haley IS good, but there's probably more to it than you are aware of.
