Love that funky, jazzy Haley in "My Cake"! Could listen to that and watch Haley dance and scat all night.

Midnight what king of camera do you have if I may ask? very clear video and great audio too!

All the videos I posted so far had the audio that accompanied the video (I simply have no time nor the skill to join my audio to the video of all the clips). The only one that was from my camera was the Sound Check.

I come home Monday and leave for Vegas Wednesday, so if I wanted to try and marry all the audios to all the videos, I would not be able to post any of this 'til after Vegas, not to mention whatever is captured in Vegas. On top of that, I'm taking significant work time off for these trips, I'll have to catch up later. So no way I can do all this in the time period, so I elected to just put up the video with it's accompanying audio....

On the other hand....

In this video, there was significant ambient audience chatter, distractingly so, so I finally attempted my first sound edit and dubbing (lining up the different audio to other video)... My audio has a little chatter, but not near as significant as the original audio.

I also 'cleaned' it a little. Not being an expert or adept in this kind of thing, I'm sure there are some issues that someone more adept can pick up. That being said, I'm pretty happy with the result.

Makes me wonder if I should try this with some of the others, like "Island in the Sun"......
(Mind you not all my audio was that much better than the video's audio, but there are some that are, like this video for example)

^^^I second Babbs' message! The audio was terrific too!

This is a good song for Casey to get his "bassy groove" on (not that he doesn't do that on the Flintstones theme as well). He's also singing lower than he typically does. While I think he's slightly uncomfortable with it, it's a good sound for him. I love it when he and Haley are riffing together towards the end. This is another keeper for the Caley collection!

Hi. You don't know me, but I want you to know that this is inherently false. As they've already told you, this isn't Keith and Courtney playing with her. Do you honestly think Keith would struggle with Bennie and the Jets the way Lance did? Haley actually saw me laughing when she turned and half chuckled because trying to get him to slow down caused her to get thrown off the lyrics slightly and botch them. Keith can play anything. I've seen it. I know well what he can do as we've talked extensively about it. I could see Haley missed him on keys at this show and I told him that.

I think you'll win Rookie of the Year with that video MNBlues! Very nice! I've learned the hard way to keep my eye of the camera screen image instead of the performer...unfortunately, because that takes away from your enjoyment and eye contact with the performer. Looks like Haley stared right at your camera a few times anyway. I also have to support my elbow against something (I try to make a tripod out of my arm as I steady the camera above everyone's heads) I've failed a few times when I couldn't find a support for clips that last longer than 3 minutes and my arm gets tired and jittery.

Boy if Haliens get 30 pages from a short set at CityWalk, I can only imagine how much the stay-at-home Haliens will enjoy from the many posts coming from 3 nights in Las Vegas!

First of all thanks to Tusk and all the Haliens for the videos and pictures from the CItyWalk concert event. Haley sounded great, looked gorgeous and her smiling, radiant attitude was stunning. A few observations:

• I really liked her song “My Cake” or whatever it is called. A great bluesy fun song that I think points to her new direction—more bluesy rock. I don’t think it is a single, but it will be a great addition to her new CD.
• Her first live performance of “What You Don’t Know” was the highlight for me. This song fits her so well, the swelling chorus line, the beat, the lyrics—right in her wheelhouse. I think this should become a standard for her in concerts going forward.
• I agree with folks that have talked about her accompanying musicians, the sound, etc maybe not being in sync, but Haley made it work, of course, with her amazing voice and charm. But that leads me to my last point.

I was always of the opinion that Haley should really work to separate herself from Idol and all of its accompanying baggage, and I always include Casey in that picture. However, I think Haley should consider Casey as part of her next evolution. It is clear that he understands her so well musically and they work wonderfully together. He also has done the hard work of putting together a band and done a lot of touring on his own since Idol. He IS the guy traveling in the van from gig to gig. Although I am a bit turned off by his over the top bohemian nature, he is a truly talented musician—no doubt. And, as noted, he is good friends with Haley’s family and (I think) just adores her.

I think Haley should consider in the next year or so connecting with Casey, especially if she gets signed and hopefully the label wants her to go on tour. The frustrating thing to me with Haley is that she is not getting together a consistent band to back her up. If she connects with Casey, that band is there—Casey has built it and worked it and they are experienced on the road. Add Haley to the mix, and I am sure the crowds would increase and the venues would become bigger. Especially if Haley hits it out of the park with her new CD, which I am sure she will. As noted, they could tour together with Casey opening up with some instrumental jams, etc, then have Haley come out for a set, in which he joins her, and he comes out for his set, and she joins him. They are kind of magical together and they just seem to have such chemistry.

I have no idea what is next for Haley, but if she does get signed, releases a CD and wants to tour (and I think she needs to tour on a regular basis with a consistent band to get to higher levels), then I think she should look to her friend Casey. It would be a win win for both of them. And a great show for their combined fan base. Sorry for the long post…. My .02….

This is more off-topic, but I had to comment on this... I love Grace Potter too. Their sound started being too 'country-folk' but their last two albums are more rock. What's great about Grace is that she's got great energy on stage. And when Haley said there would be more rock and blues on her next album, I thought maybe she would start reminiding me of her.
But both, great singers, great performers. Haley should cover one of their songs.
And don't worry about 'supplanting'. I mean, I'm sure that when she releases something new she'll be the most listened artist on our lists. But there's no need to limit yourself to one artist Specially because this is the first new Haley track in a while
