It's funny that she just casually mentions Casey - by his first name - and the interviewer doesn't ask a followup question. We're used to them together, but two Idols hanging out together three years later seems noteworthy. Heck, if nothing else, ask how they hooked up with the current Idols.

I was trying to think if Haley had met Stevie before, and remembered that Stevie had been a mentor on the show the year after Haley's season. I can't believe I forgot Sheryl was a mentor during Top 5 week... Wow!! I don't think I'm old enough blame this on "having a senior moment".

I'd also like to know the story behind Haley & Casey hanging out w/ some of this year's Idols. I'm sure they've had opportunities to meet but it'd still be interesting to hear what actually happened.

I would too. I don't know, but I'm going to guess that they knew Caleb when he tried out for season 10, and they hung out with Jena because she's very close with Caleb.

Funny enough, Idol alumni being close seems to actually be somewhat normal. I don't know if they hangout to the same extent that Haley and Casey do (but that's likely because of distance too..) but even last week, Melinda had Jordin and another girl from her season on Reality Check, and it was clear that they were still close.

Sheryl was pretty 'pivotal' to Haley' Journey, mentored her for HOTRS, 'suggested' the A capella intro (even though in Slezak's Haleyloonies, Haley said that was actually her idea )

"I think people are going to be shocked when they hear her sing, she is interpreting it in a way I've never heard, and I think people are going to love it"

Furthermore, was it not said that Sheryl suggested Haley to Slash's wife, which lead to her singing "Wild Horses" with Slash and Myles Kennedy?

I'll bet you're right about that, cause Haley did single Caleb out saying that "he was their buddy". So yeah, they probably knew each other before & started hanging out again, when he came back out to LA for the show. Then he introduced them to Jena & Alex... at least those 2, seems like I remember Casey saying something about a big jam session w/ quite a few of the Top 6 or 7

I know Casey exchanged tweets with Caleb and Alex this season -- at different times -- suggesting they get together and jam.

As for the other Idols, I know Sam tweeted about hanging out with Casey and Haley and the others. Jessica was alone in her room then watching TV.

I remember being really happy that Sheryl seemed to favor Haley that week too. And I even remember thinking Haley reminded me of Sheryl too, so it's really weird that I blanked on that last night.

I didn't know she'd set up the performance w/ Slash. I was a little blown away when she got to do that. At that time I was thinking Haley's first record was just gonna blow up, when big respected stars in the rock community, like Sheryl, Slash & Myles Kennedy, seemed to be saying, "We like this one. Let her in."

I couldn't remember which ones. I just remember that being around Top 6 or Top 7 week. Sam sounds right, I was thinking CJ for some reason. I didn't remember if they'd hung out w/ Jessica or not.

I think after spending so much time together for the AI show and then touring for 3 months and living on a bus together, it makes sense that many of the Idol alumni have a close bond. They all started together for the chance to make it in the music business. That they support each other is a bonus. Like Haley being invited on the cruise, and hard rock gigs thru Bo Bice.

It still ticks me off that Haley was being torpedoed by Randy and company week after week, while various accomplished singers, musicians and entertainers of other stripes were recognizing her talent.
