It kind of sounded like she gave up some to get help with the ep as well as Ole exposure promotion and distribution... give some get some?

I actually am wondering if Ole wants to expand itself into being an independent label too. But yea, it sounds like they are going to help promote the EP. Granted, they did a better job promoting Haley's album than anyone else, too.

Why I reposted this post from IDF pointing out that Ole had helped this country guy put out an EP, so hoping they'd do the same for Haley

When I saw that ole had put out an EP for country singer Sam Grow on itunes I was hoping they would do the same for Haley. So this time its legit. Some new music actually on the way.

I think Ole looks at exposure more along the lines of pushing music to TV and movies, and piped music, as opposed to promoting a single to radio stations.

Hearing the news of Haley getting dropped by Interscope had to of taken the wind out of her sails along with most of her fans.But in due time look what happened. It was just a matter of time that she got the break she deserved .She is so much better of with ole.Had she not bin dropped she could have bin in a contract that was a end. It all worked out for her good, and this is just the start. There is good news and tunes just around the corner. She is blessed and we are all happy for the Hales.

That very well may be. I was kinda tired when I was reading through the threads last night & when it got into the music catalog copyright discussion, I didn't pay real close attention.

Here's a thought. Since ole now owns a % of Haley's entire song catalog. One financial incentive they would have to help further Haley's career is that the more successful she becomes as a recording artist, the more valueable her catalog becomes. Which would also be why they went ahead & bought whatever Interscope's share was of the songs, written during the Listen Up sessions, now before they put any money into a new project. But maybe that's just standard practice for most labels & I've just stated the obvious.

I do remember your post, at IDF, now about the country artist who's EP ole just released. Btw, I Googled the 4 country artists ole mentioned Haley would be joining as part of their "Stable of Artists" (see that sounds like a label) & noticed 2 were also signed to other labels & 2 were not. And of course Timbaland & Rush would be signed to major labels, so I didn't bother looking that up.

Don't forget, Haley has an extremely friendly relationship with TouchTunes (who doesn't Haley have an extremely friendly relationship with? ), who is growing their media distribution infrastructure. I wonder if Ole will be working in tandem with them?

The point being that Radio is not as influential as it once was, people have so many more options to get their music, so like the Daily Paper, it's reach is/has been shrinking. Satellite Radio, Streaming services...heck even YouTube, as well as people have a smorgasbord of genre's from which to chose.

If that's Ole's strategy for it's artists, it's one that they can control and stay ahead of, instead of cowtowing to the edicts of the antiquated ways of the 'Radio Disc Jockey' and monopolization of the airwaves due to media empire consolidations that ends up deciding what they think you should listen to.

If you think about it, the common element, besides Haley retaining control of her brand, it's also exploring 'new' ways of distribution, adapting to technological advances in media. Haley saw the pushing to radio method fail her, relying on the label to put effort into you, fail her, putting songs on iTunes and knowing that piracy will limit your total units, also relying on the aforementioned, label support..... that failed her too.

It could easily be argued that her decisions were formed from her experiences and perhaps, frustrations with what happened with Interscope.

This is not to say there isn't a 'radio' strategy, just that they don't have to rely on it to help their artist succeed, get their music out to the masses.

It's exciting to see what and how they plan to work with Haley.

I'm wondering the same thing. My guess the majority of young talented writers, ole might be interested in hiring, are aspiring recording artists. So they might lose out on a lot of top prospects to a co. like Warner Chappel, who could also sign them to a recording contract on one of the WB labels. That might be one reason they'd want to expand more in that direction. Or maybe they lose some good writers for the very same reason. They might've just come close to losing Haley if she'd decided to sign w/ WB instead sticking w/ ole.

2. Haley is not a one-trick pony...and...she is going to kick so much ass little pony!

3. They love me, they really love me...Ole, from day one after Idol, has shown the love for Haley Reinhart: "her songs deserve to be appreciated on their own merits"; the artist with the "million watt personality"...they appreciate the "total package" we as Haliens know she has. Singer, Songwriter, TV Personality, Inwardly and Outwardly Attractive, Mature, Dedicated, Quick Learner...a real asset to anyone that collaborates with her.

4. She plays well with others...Haley has that ability to make others feel good about themselves and therefore want to be associated with her. Ole has had plenty of time to see her in action around others and analyze her abilities. They know what they want. It is a good fit when both parties appreciate each other.

5. Wouldn't you have loved to have been at that sales presentation..."The Canadian company was founded on Sept. 28, 2004 by current Chairman/CEO Robert Ott and Chairman in Memoriam Tim Laing. It began with a $100 million investment from the Ontario Teachers Pension fund..." Talk about a Shark Tank presentation on Steroids!
