I just talked to the vendor, AXS and they say the VIP INCLUDES access and they wouldn't be able to refund my ticket purchase since I bought it using AMEX' presale... so essentially, if I get the VIPs, I basically wasted money on the presale tickets (unless I can sell them)

I figured this would happen, but I was willing to take the chance so I didn't miss out on the tickets. I may just sell them for a discount online or something. Bummer.

No kidding, I spent time doing research, the person I talked to at the venue said I should get a code so I would be able to buy just the VIP, but that's not the person at AXS just told me. Because I used a promo code thru AMEX, it's non refundable. Had I just done regular pre-sale, today, I could've been refunded....

Call your ticket vendor, maybe they will refund yours if you didn't use a credit card preorder code?

I called the venue and they didn't know much about it because the pre-sale was through a radio station, so I actually contacted the station to see what's going on. At worst, I can contest the charges since I used a credit card....

If you sign up for the Hamilton newsletter then they give you a promo code for early access to the tickets. I just checked there are still tickets left all levels (VIP, general, and standing).

I just bought my $20 presale ticket to Haley's June 13th Varsity Theatre show in Minneapolis. Hope I make it back to Chicago in time for her show the next night at Lincoln Hall.

For those that are confused about VIP package and what that includes - here is what the DC venue says about VIP tickets - which I assume would be the same across all the venues:

Pre-Sale: VIP Seated
VIP Tickets (Seated) include access to the end of Sound-Check and a Meet and Greet with Early Entry into the Venue. Meet and Greet will begin at 5:45pm.

I plan on going to the DC show also if I'm in town. I'd like to know how to purchase the early access tickets just in case. The Hamilton website says they'll be removing the front tables so they can have a dance floor. That leaves fewer than 200 seats so I'm guessing this will be a quick sellout. Are you sure the "dance floor" might not be to open up more standing space.

Here is the quote from the website:

"Please note that there will be a dance floor for this show and the front row of tables will be cleared out. Be advised that there may be some seated areas where vision of the stage is obstructed."

It may be true that the 'dance floor' may be extra standing room area but given the fact that they're clearing the front tables to create this area in front of the stage that would make that premium space. Usually the standing room spaces are in toward the back. in either case the will be fewer table seats. Also note that on their video page they highlight a couple of videos from a June 2014 PMJ show.

Saw those old PMJ videos -- they had the seats/tables to the stage configuration.

Wonder if the Hamilton is doing some live streaming. That would cool
