The iTunes version is really fantastic. Much fuller than the video, and the echo in the beginning is awesome. Haley's vocals are superb. If you listen to all three songs in a row you really get the feeling of what the record will bring. Can't wait for the rest.
I'm not convinced this is the last 'single' to be released before the album drops. IF there was going to be some sort of 'push' by Concord, e.g. promotion, radio tour, etc. they might do that with the next song. There's still plenty of time left before 9/22. I recall Haley mentioning in her FB video post that she had high hopes for one of her own tunes. Could that me the next one-- the one that Concord really promotes???

I think this one may get a lot of traction. Too bad the view counter wasn't on when Perez had the exclusive.
I'm not convinced it is last single before the album release, but I wonder if they will stay with the trend (releasing songs she performed on tour) and release White Rabbit. It will be a fun record to play from beginning to end.[/font]

Did anyone notice half way through the song, when she sings, "Paranoia strikes deep...." There is a second voice, whispering, very slightly out of sync w/ the main vocal. An audio 'trick' to underlie the 'paranoia'?
What other goodies or tricks will we get to hear Haley and her team flex? (remember the back masking message to the Beatles in "Follow Me I'm Right Behind You?).....This album marks a new chapter for Haley in all the right ways

I think when you attach the name "activist" to a musician, it means something different than political activists. (There are some of those). Generally speaking, there's a message that the musician is trying to get across about and/to humanity. Not necessarily "Pick a side on an issue." (Although, as said..there are some things Haley is outspoken for..particularly her thoughts on preserving the planet.)
And again, generally the message is simply about love and acceptance..peace and harmony. The typical hippie goals.
But I think that route makes sense for musicians to go. It's the same thing that MJ did, and The Beatles before him. I was actually reading an article about Hanson recently (It's their 25 year anniversary as a band, and 20th year anniversary since "Mmmbop".) The article, references the artists above..mentioned that Hanson "Just wanted humanity to chill the fuck out." (excuse my French.) noting that even as children, that seemed to be a central theme in a lot of their music.
And I think that line, is representative of a lot of musicians who want to say something about and to the world. Or who want their core message to be about more than just songs about romance and heartbreak.

Since I've posted Steve's video of Haley singing "Imagine" I've had quite a few posts I've had to delete angered at what these people believe to be heresy....all they hear is:
'Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too'
completely missing the point of Lennon's (and Haley's) wish for EVERYBODY to get along.
They are so zeroed in on their 'right' 'religion' and 'hate' that they completely miss the point that the many extreme examples of Human on Human violence all throughout history has been propagated and incited by Evil men who've used 'Religion' 'Manifest Destiny" and "Government" as their tool to justify unspeakable horrors on other human beings, all throughout the history of humanity.
When it's one on one, Man can find a way to get along, compromise. When it's an organization of 'Men', it becomes something completely different, it becomes "us vs them".... I only bring this up because in the quote I posted of Haley's response to someone annoyed at her 'being political', she actually quotes Lennon from "Imagine"....

Regarding Imagine.
Clearly, it is a political song. It speaks to the core of what politics are about. It conveys a humanistic, athiest, globalist, and communist point of view. Of course, people are going to comment. And now you are a censor of political speech. Feeling self-righteous about a point of view doesn't make it apolitical. I find some of the lyrics to the song rather trite, and some of the vision quite unappealing, but with the music it can be moving nonetheless.

Different strokes, different folks, I don't think Haley's support and reverence for it's message is political, she's pretty much said as much, that it's about loving one another to her
I've loved the Beatles forever, as a young child I didn't see it as political when I first heard the song, same as Haley (or at least my interpretation) what I hear is the wish that people would just get along, life's too short and too precious to let hate drive you
