Hail damage in Dallas - Miguel - 06-13-2012
This evening we here in Dallas were hit by a pretty good hail storm. It had been hailing for about five minutes when I sent my parents an email about another subject and signed off by mentioning it was hailing but not too big. As soon as I did that, the hail became bigger and more forceful. I fired off another email letting them know that. Then the hail took it up another notch. I'm certain I'll need a new roof, which is cool except for the insurance deductible. Some vids and pics others have posted:

Had a big storm blow through yesterday. In Plano, where I work, it looked ominous but passed through quickly.
I arrived home last night from work about 8 pm. There was a ladder against my neighbor's home and two guys working a wood chipper in her front yard.
I lost a 15-ft section of the 8-ft-tall fence in my backyard yesterday.
That is relatively minor compared to the damage suffered by others.
This news report refers to a large area in Dallas known as "Lake Highlands." But the damage shown in the video is less than a 1/4 mile from my home.

^^^Storms like that can be really scary -- or exciting (for a short time), as long as your safe, warm and not hungry. Glad that you're safe, and that the worst thing that happened to your property was the fence.

Since I was without power until 4 a.m., I slept with the windows opened. The storm brought much cooler weather, making that experience much more pleasant than expected.
This is also playing out a couple of miles from my home:
