NYT: Has Taylor Swift peaked? - Miguel - 03-18-2013 Quote:... Her ubiquity, not to mention her dating history, has begun to stir what feels like the beginning of a backlash (including both a Tumblr account and Facebook page titled “I Hate Taylor Swift,” the latter with 5,912 “likes”). Taylor is a songwriter but so is our Haley. However, Taylor's singing voice is thin & pitchy and she doesn't seem to be able to laugh at herself, not at all like our Haley... ![]() ![]() RE: NYT: Has Taylor Swift peaked? - My Alter Ego - 03-18-2013 Has Taylor Swift peaked? Could we be that lucky?? She is a "PYT," who found extraordinary success at an early age. Her "music" is not at all "musical" to me and her voice -- well, the kindest I can be is to not say anything about it. I suspect that we may not have heard the last of Ms. Swift. She may have a "time out, a cooling off" period, but I very much doubt that she'll "go gently into that good night." However, if she tries penning the same type of "break up" song about her fans that she's so well known for regarding her relationships, she might find that her fan base will have permanently taken a southward trajectory. RE: NYT: Has Taylor Swift peaked? - mercfan3 - 03-19-2013 I think its simple. If Taylor Swift wants longevity, she needs to grow up. She doesn't have the best voice, but she is a good song writer. The issue is, she's now in her early twenties, and we're still getting songs like "We are never ever ever getting back together." (And although, after I heard it 100 times, I don't mind it anymore....that's not the point. ![]() She wrote a beautiful, adult song, for the Hunger Games, "Safe and Sound." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzhAS_GnJIc She should go in that direction. People liked Taylor because she was a 17 year old who acted like a 17 year old. She wrote in a way that teenagers could identify with, her songs are brilliant in that way. The problem is, its getting old..and now she's a 23 year old acting like a 17 year old. RE: NYT: Has Taylor Swift peaked? - cherelann - 03-19-2013 ^^Very good point Merc, hard to believe she and Haley are so close in age. ![]() RE: NYT: Has Taylor Swift peaked? - Miguel - 03-19-2013 (03-19-2013, 01:02 PM)mercfan3 Wrote: The problem is, its getting old..and now she's a 23 year old acting like a 17 year old. And her fans, like Justin Bieber's, are getting older as well. I think she'll make the transition to an adult audience more successfully than him. |
