[My Alter Ego]

I never did care for Chicago they weren't a mediocre band they were very talented excellent musicianship but it just wasn't my style of music. I think when Pete cetera left the group and went solo he put out some very good tunes excellent music not classic rock more or less on the
soft rock side. He also put out a duet with Amy Grant called The next time I fall.

Midnight?? Seriously?? You like rock. You seem to kind of like jazz. You didn't hear those early those fusions with this group in its early years? Really?? Seriously??

After reading the comments about Chicago, I am almost reluctant to admit that one of my favorite rock bands is Chicago. Like My Alter Ego, I love horns. I felt James Pankow created some of the best horn arrangements.

Chicago sales did drop and their career was resurrected sort of speak by David Foster who co-wrote Hard to Say I’m Sorry with Pete Cetera. That video left out the best part, the transition into Get Away. Did I mention I like horns? When they changed and became soft rock, they de-emphasized the horns which upset their early fans.

They came out with a Big Band CD called Night and Day which were covers of the songs from that era. They brought back the horns big time and the horn arrangements to me were amazing. It is one of my favorite albums. Two songs I like are Night and Day and Blues in the Night, the latter which features Joe Perry on guitar and you can even hear Bill Champlin’s growl. I chose those two songs for a reason you know.

And I guess we can all agree to disagree .Chicago is not really classified as a rock band is more of the soft rock adult contemporary bandwagon. The reason why I'm not so much like in Chicago has nothing to do with their musicianship or their ability or their skills with their instrument. It's just that I don't think that horns belong in a rock band if you want to classify it as a rock 'n roll. peace out an love.

Yah but some might question the inclusion of the Beach Boys as not being a rock band either, and alot of their early hits are closer to soft rock Chicago in tenor. Chicago has alot of true rock songs, like the one I posted earlier, "I'm a Man" is much closer to 'rock' than "In My Room"





or "Kokomo" is as "soft rock" as anything Peter Cetera did


I agree Cetera left rock for soft rock/ballad music, but that doesn't mean Chicago was not a rock band. They were definitely a rock band...at the beginning

and as far as horns not belonging in rock...
Bruce Springsteen and Clarence Clemons might disagree

How can I forget the Beatles loved horns in their music

Theats why we can agree to disagree these are my roots my roots go back to thelate 50s when rock 'n roll really started with Chuck Berry big bopper Buddy Holly and of course Elvis Presley you can't forget the King so between the 50s in the 90s you could say 40 years of music it's in my blood these are just opinions. So why make a big deal over it, like I said we can agree to disagree. And that's as far as I want to go with this.
