Haley's EP
I really am excited about Haley's upcoming EP. Just the idea of hearing new music, especially music that is part of Haley's continuing growth as an artist, makes me feel giddy.
I can still vividly remember listening to Haley's Idol covers back in the day and thinking to myself: "Imagine, some day Haley will have music of her own. I will be able to listen to her sing original material and it will be even more wonderful because the music will be her own." That day came with the release of Listen Up! and now will continue with her EP. I can hardly wait to hear the harder edged stuff, especially if it includes hints of blues and jazz. The mind boggles. And then there is the mystery cover that may or may not be Can't Find My Way Home. I'm getting goose-bumps just writing it.
So, now I wonder how long we will have to wait? Will she need to get signed to a new label before it can come out? Or will it come out as an enticement meant to garner label attention? Whatever the case, all I know is that I'm excited in a way I haven't been since when I would anticipate a new Holly Cole album being released or Basia getting back into the studio for the first time in years. For me, Haley is an artist to anticipate and savor. She is a modern day Linda Ronstadt or even to some extent an embodiment of the unique expression of Rickie Lee Jones. Haley is original enough and talented enough to get me just as worked up as I would for any of my other favorites.
Keep working on that EP, Haley. Keep writing and recording and doing what you do. Because I am waiting. And excited beyond words.

RE: Haley's EP
I absolutely LOVE Rickie's debut album and Chuck E.'s In Love is a great song. And, Midnight, you chose a song from my all-time favorite of Linda's albums, Hasten Down the Wind (wonderful, wonderful album right there).
I'm afraid I have to differ with you fellas about Like A Star. Yes, I love Haley's cover of it but it doesn't push my swan-radar (swandar?) button the way CFMWH does. We'll see, though. Part of the fun is the speculating and anticipating.
