Season 13 started out with what appeared to be a very high level of talent in the auditions. What the hell happened? This is the best they could find out of 100,000 people? I've heard better in Karaoke Clubs. It doesn't help that the judges are saying "You need to have more confidence but you suck". Randy Jackson is his usual worthless self and it looks like the video backdrop glitz is minimizing the performer much like X Factor did. The themes are stupid and irrelevant. Screaming girls in the audience are suppose to get us more excited?? Only Sam & Majesty come close to the top 11 of Season 10.

^ Agreed My Captain...regardless of any comparison to previous years for this year's group, Idol has a choke hold on the Golden Goose. If they can't rein in Harry Connick Jr the show will continue to slide in ratings (it may anyway). After last night's show, I watched The Voice from Monday to make a comparison, since Idol was so fresh in my mind. I know it is a different format, with judges wanting to win and all the motivation behind that, but the whole atmosphere compared to Idol...The Voice actually believes in their contestants vs Idol (Harry) forensically parsing every flaw in each contestant. Yes, we know how musically brilliant you are Harry, but please try and be somewhat positive about the contestants you helped select.

Since Ray Chew left for DWTS we are back to Rickey Minor, which is not working this season. LOL the judges are even picking on the Idol band...which means this show is in free fall. It's hard to watch anymore...of course all the criticism brings us back to the nightmare judging of Season 10. Randy Jacka$$ is the icing on the cake for this train wreck...my attempt at mixing metaphors.

Harry Connick Jr. just said this is the best 12 finalists he's seen since the start of American Idol...you've got to be kidding me..is he out of his mind. Don't really like him as a judge.

Yea, that's hilarious. For me, it's between season 10 and season 11. (But season 10's winner was considerably better.) And Season 8 is in third.

This season..I guess it's better than season 9...at least season 12 had Candice, Angie, and Kree...all of which would dominate this season. (In fact, even Janelle might.)

I'm just going to keep losing favorites. It's tough to say this person didn't deserve to go.

What a surprise...3 girls in the bottom three for the second week in a row!

It's not really fixable...Mrs. B got a shot in though, directed at Buzz..."I'm surprised they (Idol) don't talk to you?" Haha...nice one Mrs. B. I'm just a voice crying in the wilderness.

Although, it was very telling tonight when they spent the first 5 minutes talking about how harsh the judges (Harry) were last night. Harry rambled on about his role as a judge vs a mentor. Idol obviously is taking some flak for the style of judging so far and the implications concerning their Top 12.

It's tough..because..last night..I mean..what was there to be positive about?

The irony, for me..is that JLO has been the best part of American Idol for me this season. I think she's actually been fantastic. She's given honest intelligent critiques that are right on..but she's not being mean, and she often has something positive to say.

Where was this JLO season 10 and 11?

Harry on the other hand, I'm finding to be annoying. And I thought I'd really like him, but he's just...blah.

The contestants..I think there was some talent on the girls side. Majesty is a fun cool current performer, Jessica has a great southern rock tone, MK's voice is very pure, and Emily has a very good pop voice. And Jena has a very unique voice.

But there are a lot of problems. Like stage presence. Jessica looks absolutely lost on stage without her guitar. Emily and Jena try..but it falls short. And if someone were to tell me that MK has never performed in front of more than 30 people before Idol..I'd believe it.

The arrangements have been horrible. The band has been too loud..and for whatever reason, every contestant likes to start soft and then have the band blast them off the stage. Just keep it quiet.

And with Randy mentoring, I doubt there will be improvement.

The guys..blah. Sam is like MK. Pure voice. It's nice. But I don't have the soft spot for him that I do for her. And Alex is interesting. I think he's kind of casey like with his musicality, but I think he'll be the first guy out. The rest of the guys..ugh.

American Idol season 13 has gone off the rails a little bit.

The problem is the finalists. What was a promising group a few weeks ago has boiled down to a dull top 12. Appealing oddballs Alex Preston and MK Nobillette are suddenly nervous performers. Potential dreamboats Ben Briley and Sam Woolf are failing to develop. None of the girls can sing in tune. It’s getting grim.

Majesty is still my favorite this season. There's something about her that draws my attention to her.... but this week was not her best.

American Idol XIII, eliminated contestant, Emily Piriz, spoke with reporters earlier today about her run on the show.
Does she have a favorite American Idol contestant? “Kelly Clarkson, for sure. I also really–Haley Reinhart. She was one of my favorite girls. I think she’s so unique.”
