That's what I suspect. I do wonder whether Joey's life is her own again, now that she's been voted off, or if there is still a sort of "no compete" period afterwards.
Idol owns the top twelve for a while. Even if they choose not to sign them to a record deal they can exercise their agreement for exclusive rights as their management company and take 15%. I have read some on the topic but it has been a while, not all of what I read may be true - but Haley, Casey and James fell into that and we all remember when they were "free at last". Joey is stuck for a while I assume.
I sure hope PP wins. These kids are the entertainment for a very big money maker plus 19 et al get, essentially, a free ride on identifying and developing talent. Seems unfair to the kids. Everyone is making money (or saving costs) and these kids get handcuffed for their work.
