Summer Jazz kicks off June 17 with American Idol finalist

Haley Reinhart, a fan favorite during American Idol‘s tenth season and one of the top five finalists, is stepping in as special vocalist on June 17th for Laguna Beach Live!’s Jazz Wednesdays with Dave Damiani and his 10-piece No Vacancy Orchestra.
Haley’s throaty, bluesy voice made her a standout among her fellow contestants and some critics have said she is the best vocalist yet in the popular show.
“Adding Haley to the big band sounds of Dave Damiani’s Celebration of Sinatra’s 100th Birthday is an exciting start to the summer Jazz series,” says Cindy Prewitt, President of Laguna Beach Live!

Well that is pretty cool she is definitely branching out.

Some guys seem to lead a charmed life, whether born of privilege or being in the right place and time. Such scenarios are far from Dave Damiani’s reality, as he struggled to make ends meet as a bartender, earning enough to study music at a state school. From there, he worked tirelessly to refine his skills as a postmodern Rat Pack singer and performer, plunging headlong into the business of making music and leading a big band. His efforts eventually were rewarded with a slew of engagements in L.A. and Vegas, with his music featured on television shows and commercials for everything from Apple to Ralph Lauren. Damiani deserves every accolade, because he’s a self-made man who’s worked his ass off to make it. His new album is called Midlife Crisis, and he’s earned the right to have one of those as well.

My friends who I'm going to see Haley and PMJ with a week later in LA live right there... it's in their neighborhood, too bad I already booked my flight, would be nice to fly in a few days earlier to see this too

Edit: Just realised, this is happening a day after PMJ is in Seattle on the 16th....this is the reason Haley can't make Seattle

At about 8:15 a female singer comes on. Needless to say Haley sings on a different plane.

BTW, I think Scott changed the description to include Sinatra-esque after we had been discussing that here on HF.

Little bit of alarm today, my friend has gathered a bunch of people to go to the show, but the original link to the event is dead.

When you go to the Buy Ticket page, this is what it says....

Kicking off the season on June 17 is Sinatra’s 100th Birthday Swingin’ Celebration with Dave Damiani and the No Vacancy Orchestra , featuring vocalist Renee Olstead

So of course, there was consternation... is Haley going to sing or is she not?

Well, after a bunch of phone calls made, it turns out that Haley is going to be there, she is replacing Renee Olstead who's booked to do some kind of acting thing....

The people running the site weren't updating their page, why it led to confusion

When the misunderstanding happened, my friend had over 20 people going to the show to see Haley, I figured maybe Harry might know (This was before we found the reason there were two different vocalists listed). Once I found out we were OK, that Haley was going to be there, Harry elaborated on how they came to meet Damiani:

Glad it worked out. At first this didn't sound familiar, but then I realized it was a show that Dave Damiani contacted me about Haley's availability. They hooked up and worked it out seeing as she was not on tour at that time. We met Dave at L.A. Live during the Idol Finale...he was the band leader of the house jazz group at the big Marriott where we were staying, right by the Nokia. Patti & I both sat in with him and went downstairs to the club to catch them each night.

Jazz Wednesdays summer series returns to Aliso Canyon at The Ranch, 31106 S. Coast Highway, with Haley Reinhart, an “American Idol” finalist who will join Dave Damiani and his 10-piece No Vacancy Orchestra from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17.

Guests can enjoy live music and eat a Mexican buffet dinner, all while sitting on an outdoor patio overlooking Aliso Creek Canyon.

In the first concert, Dave Damiani and the nine-piece No Vacancy Orchestra will pay tribute to Frank Sinatra’s 100th birthday in a performance also featuring “American Idol” singer Haley Reinhart

Laguna Beach is top notch. It's the Lamborghini of the Southern Calif. beaches.Lots of artists go there to write or hone their painting skills. The place smells of money. great place for a jazz gig.
