The Haley PMJ version opens with Haley singing acapella to the snapping of fingers.

Okay, that wasn't acapella. I couldn't hear the instruments given the quality of the Instagram and the very cheap set of headphones ($2.99 or so) I had at work. But now, at home, I can clearly hear the instruments.

I've been listening to this song repeatedly. It goes down easy.

I just listened to the White Stripes version again. One thing that strikes me in comparison... Jack White glides right over the "I'm bleeding..." sequence. Haley brings out the power of the line with what I think of as a gospel interpretation.
