If you see this before you head off to the show, let Haley know how special it was for Rachel & Rebecca (and Pops) to meet her in Buffalo. The girls (and Pops) are still Buzzing over it.
Add in the Haley retweet, the pics getting posted and talked about here and Rachel C using one of Becca's pics on her news site linked to Haley's OFFICIAL site (with pic credits) and well...we are overwhelmed.
hey fellow Upstate New Yorker Halien...I took this one step further for Rachel & Rebecca By printing out your group photo with Haley on Photopaper and I got Haley to sign it for you last night. Message me your address and I'll send you the original instead of this scanned copy:
Well bust my buttons, Steve! What an amazing thoughtful thing to do for a virtual stranger! I just told Rachel about this and actually teared up.(It had the same affect for me too, to be honest.) Have to wait to tell Becca, she's working.
Rachel decided she wanted to be part of the family here and just registered. She is so happy to see what a tight-knit group this is and can't wait to fan her Haley fandom. I'm sure Becca will be right behind her, so be prepared Haleyfans.com for a rash of postings from WNY!!!
Again, Steve...WOWWW! Just WOWWW! I'll PM my address to you. Looking forward to all of the recaps.
Oh....I guess I can let all of you know that when I was talking to Haley after the show she told me there is a BUNCH of stuff going on right now. People are coming to HER for projects and work and ow great ole is being. We talked about how the gum commercial has blown up and CHFIL going viral and getting radio play, etc. Told her we Haliens were hoping that the delay in releasing "Better" was to ride the current wave of the commercial AND TO ADD THE SONG TO THE EP, maybe??? To which Haley replied, in the cool, trailing off raspy voice, "Oh yeahhhhh..." Me-"REALLY?" H.E.R- repeating, "Oh yeahhhh..."

Steve, until you wrote this I was hesitant to say anything about the "Puddles dance" because I didn't want to say anything negative about an otherwise outstanding, mind-blowing evening. Thank you Steve, Buzz, and Pat, for recording this special evening so beautifully for all of us to share. Your videos, and Buzz's (what's the proper possessive for Buzz?) are amazing. Pat's Periscope was an unexpected treat and went well beyond the call of duty.
As to Haley's special moment. IMO, there is a fine line between supporting or enhancing a performance and upstaging. The slow dancing behind Haley was enhancing the performance; Puddles' clowning around with Casey was upstaging. Well at least he didn't do a pratfall. Not blaming Casey, first of all because I know he would never do anything to detract from Haley's moment; and, second, because Puddles initiated the dancing, not Casey. Kind of trapped him into going along with it.
My wife, who was trained classically and performed in opera, had a fit when she saw this. Unless Haley knew in advance this was going to happen, she probably had no idea as to why the audience erupted during an otherwise tender moment. She handled the situation very professionally, but it had to distract her, at least somewhat, and perhaps "take her out of the special moment." My wife also felt that the audience reaction may have caused Haley to push a little at the end to try to overcome the noise. Still, if Haley was bothered afterwards, she surely didn't show it. But then she is a pro, and knows how to behave on stage.
In spite of all of this, it was a very, very special performance, and unexpected treat, and I'll probably watch it 50 times today, trying to ignore Puddles in the background.
I don't know Puddles and am not implying he's a bad guy or had any bad intentions by doing this. On his video interview he seems like a nice guy. Probably is. And, some of the audience seemed to really like his bit. Maybe upstaging is an outdated concept, and anything goes is the new standard, but some of us older folks I guess are set in our ways and didn't appreciate it, because we really felt Haley deserved her moment without distraction.

Yes, clearly an amazing night (and we don't know the half of it). Thanks for all the reporting and video. The real-time periscoping was definitely a cool experience.

Yeah, the song was something special for Haley and the audience, and her rendition was touching -- like the commercial that made everyone cry and reminiscent of her Imagine performance. Then 'BOOM' - Puddles drops himself into the middle of it -- making it something different.
