Admittedly I've only watched 2 or maybe 3 episodes, but the further away I get from Season 10, the more ambivalent I am about seasons since. The performers, as a whole, appear to be getting younger and younger... is this Nickelodean Idol?

I mean I'm sure there are a ton of 'young' talented people out there, but a maturity should occur before they get a shot at 'the ring' I've just got the sense we'd be getting alot of 'meh' performers that producers will try and dress up for presentation. I Will likely only watch Haley's part....

The problem is worse than that though.

I've always maintained that Danielle Bradbery personally killed American Idol. She won The Voice, the same year Mariah and Nicki were on Idol, which many people thought hurt Idol more.

But my argument is simple, up until that point The Voice was about semi-pros. But then a little girl with a beautiful voice went on the show and won. She had never performed before the blind audition. She reminded me (and I'm sure many people) of when Idol was good and a great singer won. (Clarkson, Underwood, Jordin..etc..) instead of the god awful WGWGs.

The ending result was that there was proof that an amateur can compete, and beat, a semi pro...and that really, there was no reason for talented teens (especially girls) to go on the less popular show. The following Voice season, Jacquie Lee..another extremely talented 16 year old girl went on the show and came in second. Christina Grimmie came in third the following year, with one of the best auditions ever from a 17 year old girl (Bria Kelly). Chris Jamison, and Matt McAndrew were amateurs (although around 20 instead of the teens..) then we followed that up with a Sawyer Fredericks and Mia Z..two unbelieveably talented 15 year olds..possibly the two most talented kids I've seen on that show..and of course Koryn (who also made the finale) Brooke Adee (cut too early)...and the past season, another amature, although Older..won the show.

So what's my point? All of these incredibly talented people went on The Voice, instead of Idol. The problem isn't that they are young. Jessica Sanchez, Scotty McCreery, Alison Iraheta, Jordin Sparks, Diana Degarmo..etc..all extremely talented. Talented beyond there years. So talented that they belong on that stage, in some cases even dominate that stage.

Now those kids don't choose that show. So we are left with mediocre teens, mediocre country singers (because if you are a country singer...why wouldn't you be trying to connect with Blake Shelton?), and WGWGs.

Occassionally we'll get lucky, and get a Jena..who blossoms and can deliver some old school talent. Mostly though, the show is just lacking talent..

Really puts a damper on the idea of posting an updated Journey if it's so unpredictable who will put a claim on it
