Hi MAE. Based on recent remarks she made in an interview it also sounds like Haley went to a bunch of acting auditions, and eventually decided she needed to focus back on music. Maybe after Interscope dropped her she was sour on the music industry for a while. But she did keep writing. I'm delighted for Haley and the timing is probably just right for her to have this success as she has done a lot to prepare. The wrong contract can be career killer and I'd glad Haley has been proceeding with caution.

Hi john I'm not aware of the recent interview remarks, but, again, I suspect Haley was doing what she could within the constrictions of the contract she was signed to. Thanks for reminding me that it was Interscope, not 19. I've edited my comment above accordingly.

For what it's worth, and this is only my opinion, I think 19 was a bigger issue, as her management team, than Interscope in stunting Haley early career development. And I despise what Interscope didn't do to support "Listen Up".

Yeah, 19 didn't do shit for Haley. I recall them using Haley's twitter account to follow thousands of One Direction and Justin Beiber fans. Such a useless and unHaley thing to do. I doubt she was happy with that.

Given what we've learned in the aftermath, you do realize it's not unusual that they didn't do that. They didn't support Candice Glover either, and she was the winner in her season. (Yes, I'm aware of the skepticism of how she came to win.)

Knowing the kind of 'follow my dreams/instincts' person Haley is, I for one look at the whole LU as what had to be done to put Haley in a better place, a few years of industry experience and advice in her pocket, learning about life on the road while being influenced by veterans in a live performance industry, free to sign w/ a publishing company who invests in their clients and reward the ones that do well by them, leading to viral hit that opens more doors and opportunities.

If Haley had continued w/ Interscope longer, being treated the way she was, being part of a machine in a dwindling industry, performing in front of thousands, songs that may or may not be hers, day after day, night after night, knowing that you are supporting an industry that could drop you the next day, faceless fans, night after night...no time to discover your self or your music.... Sure that's a half empty look at it, but ask Phillip Phillip if he had it all to do again, would he do it all over again the same? Win, make quick money, but lose yourself or who you think you are OR finish where Haley did, gain a decent fan base and build your brand ground up from the opportunity....

It's been a long time since I've needed to shake my proverbial fist at how Idol/Interscope/19 done her wrong.... with Hindsight, seeing what has happened, the way recent winners have been treated by the contracts they signed....Haley, while still a long ways to go to reach what she knows she can, is still in control of her music and herself....

Idol/Interscope/19 were a sharp stepping stone full of lessons Haley needed to learn to continue across that river to reach her goals. I just don't feel the need to think of them anymore than that it was through them, I discovered Haley and her music
