It seems they rushed a single out by Pia ahead of the Idol tour last summer and she has been in and out of the studio since, but it hasn't come together. Pia has a beautiful voice but needs to let loose. She likes to color inside the lines and it comes off nice, but boring. Haven't seen much growth in Pia.
The timing has worked out well for Haley. She was able to go into the studio with all the AI stuff behind her. I imagine her recording experience as being something like her time on AI -- a little bumpy in the beginning with a rapid learning curve where she gains control of the situation and wins over many admirers (and leaves a few others in the dust).
