Tying this back to Haley...
It was in November when she said the album was taking on a "Motown sound with hip-hop beats." Lately, the words "rock" and "jazz" have seemed to gain prominence along with "funky" soul. I'm thinking the album might have evolved. Maybe into something more energetic and fun.
Maybe ... but that's hard to imagine with Pia, particularly going back to that statement "a perfect representation."
I think that "perfect" is the -- perfect way to way to talk about Pia. The very beautiful Pia with not a strand of hair out of place and absolutely "perfect" makeup... I think back to her Idol days (shockingly limited as they were) and I remember the clip of her talking about her father's advice to "practice, practice, practice."
Mind you, music requires practice if one is to achieve anything with it (yes, Durbin, I'm talking about you), but what it should do is give one the foundation to be able to do anything with it (think of Julie Andrews teaching her charges "Do Re Mi" in
The Sound of Music).
Jazz requires spontaneity -- and, sometimes, it won't be perfect. Spontaneity and Pia are incongruous to me.
