RE: Adam Lambert
Adam's pitch control isn't as good as Haley's, but he does have a larger range. (Although, Adam's pitch control is quite good and Haley's range is pretty darn big.) For me, Haley gets the nod because of everything she can do with her voice. The control she has is unbelievable. It's actually not surprising that she's involved in voice over work, my guess is she's quite good at imitating a lot of sounds. (Actually, recently Christina Aguilera did a few pretty spot on impressions of different musical artists..and it got me thinking it's likely a talent a lot of great singers have.)
And yes, it's amazing he was an understudy..and I'm actually hoping that Adam does a broadway show at some point. Darren Criss just signed on to star in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and as excited as I am to see Darren in that, I can't help but think of what a perfect role that would be for Adam.
He's just incredible. And I'm excited for his new album. These shows have really had some incredible performers and vocalists. Like I said, he's my choice for "all around best." But when it comes to talking about a pure vocalist, I would put him behind Clarkson and Haley..and debatable between him and Tessanne Chin from The Voice. (Whose Voice was just flawless.) But that doesn't matter, because when it comes to the whole package..I don't know if there's any entertainer matching Lambert now a days. (Once again, maybe Gaga, Usher, Aguilera or Beyonce. But I'd side with Lambert.) I'd love to see his next album be a huge success for him. But I don't think he's too upset with the way his music career has gone.
BTW: If you want to talk about most talented/best untrained voice..I would actually go with my boy DeAndre Brackensick. He's now hitting whistle notes..something I didn't even know men could do. (All the way up to an E6..and he sustains it.) His range is now over four octaves..that he uses. The kid over sings some..and probably takes too many liberties with the melody..but I shake my head at the talent there.
