The Article & Interview

Former American Idol contestant Haley Reinhart is making quite a musical debut with her first studio album, Listen Up! An already well-received album, this is one of the best new pop albums to date from 2012.

When Hollywire.com asked Haley about the one word to describe her new album she told us "unique", and that is exactly what fans can expect!

The album, co-written by Haley, save the lead-single, Free, is an eclectic blend of what one would expect from the sultry-voiced Chicago native: a bit of pop, rock, R&B and a truly soulful feel, something missing in the albums of today. "It was really important to me that the record have an organic, soulful sound that truly reflects the kind of artist I want to be."

If music and fashion are in anyway a reflection of an artist's persona then Haley Reinhart has got the look. We asked Haley to reflect on her personal style and here's what she had to say:

Summer 2012 fashion trends you're eager to rock:
High-waisted shorts, or just like ripped shorts, shorts in general.

How would you explain your summer style:
A lot of cool tank tops, basically the skinniest straps so I can get the best tan possible.

Most important thing about fashion and style to you:
It's cool, one, it defines you. And it's cool to mix up different things and I like to go from different eras, that I enjoy from 50's, 60's, 70's and a little mixture of all of them to the modern world.

Jean shorts or floral dresses:
Oh that's tough because I like both. And I love, love, love, floral I'm usually always wearing it, I like me both but probably floral I guess.

An item in your closet that you can't live without:
Well there's plenty of high heels that I couldn't live without, and I've got literally a closet full of them, I need another one pretty soon because they're taking over.

If you could raid any celebrities' closet who would it be?
Halle Berry, she's the first one I thought of, because she's really hot too.

What is your greatest fashion find?
Cheetah heels from Aldo since they seem to go with just about everything! And they are actually comfy which is a definite plus!

How do you go about choosing your outfits for your performances?:
It's kind of just like what I'm feeling that day, and it depends on the event. If it's a rock-and-roll show you know I'll bust out my 70's attire. I'll mix it up though, it's fun.

Would you say your music influences your fashion then, and your fashion influences your music?
Totally, and the music that I grew up with and that I love is definitely the kind of clothing that I love too.

Biggest fashion splurge:
The only thing that we (Haley and her mom) would really spend money on is dance dresses, like dresses for the big dance and I always got some nice ones and I appreciate that Mom and I'll pay you back someday for it.

Fill in the blank, 'This summer I can't leave the house without wearing':
Without wearing some cute heels, some shorts and a nice tank top.
