It could also be that it is a difficult song for her to actually sing as in do justice to the notes. It don't think it has the flexibilty of many of the other songs either with a more bluesish feeling, where she can easily take creative liberties around the fringes of the melody. She just said something in an interview about enjoying singing houseOTRS for a reason like that.
Interesting thought on the emotion though. I'm not sure how that is for singers.
It is not a big deal for stage actors who relish in displaying ranges of emotion each night (and of course actors/singers in musicals included) I'm sure they have nights they're more enthused than others but most of them love "the show must go on" mentaility...the roar of the crowds... etc.
Haley has mentioned she loves acting (one particular time she talked about that was on IDOL when she sung "I who have nothing" . She took on a full role there..
I'm thinking that its more that she doesn't really like singing the part where she goes almost full Diva on the repeated Undone, undone , undone part in a very high part of her register .... without much relief . I think she really relishes running up and down the chords and playing more softly with words, coloring different syllables not only with pitch but with the sound of the tone.
That full Diva power high note is less her. (I think her range is huge, maybe as good as any diva.... but I got the feel it might hurt her physicallly a bit to go up there - as contrasted with idols Jessica Sanchez or Pia who don't quite have the artistry of interpretation(or the type that appeals to me) but feel like they have more air behind the glory notes that is less strenuous on their vocal chords or something ?
I'm not sure if it is 1) the emotion, 2) the lack of fun in toying around with sounds , or 3) the strain it might cause on he voice.
But, if I had to vote, it woudl be door number two.. the joy in toying around with a melody. because the way she can do that is what I find so amazing about her.
Oh, a fourth option. 4) She might just love singing the Undone and we're a bunch of fools for talking about it.
Maybe i'll vote 4, then 2 , then 3, then 1. I think she's ok with the acting part if she has ways to wrap her voice around the song to do that.
