Himm2, I'm in total agreement with you about Keith. While, initially, I was dismayed in the way Keith was brought in, he's just SOO good at improvising and providing really good "licks" for Haley to work with. I've also been impressed with his sensitivity (see initial tweet in the "Happy for Haley" thread). And, finally, I love his enthusiasm!! Particularly demonstrated in those few vids that show him at the Lolla show, this kid was having a blast! He wasn't upstaging Haley, and was definitely there to support her, but he enjoyed every second. Keith's a treasure!

I remember a tweet exchange where someone posted how they enjoyed watching Keith have a blast on the Lolla vid, and he replied somthing like, of course...that he hated to see bands on stage not having fun

Sorry for the (lack of) quality since I used my iPhone and ran out of memory (sorry for the hard stop on Undone). I have never done ANYTHING like this before and stood right up front to get a good view. 

We appreciate you sharing the experience with us and understand there are limitations to recordings made on the fly with a smartphone. Compared to the hundreds we heard during the Idol tour yours are quite good. And front row footage is always best visually.
 

She was filing in for another performer at the last minute and most people were there because of the race and not to see her. Regardless, she seemed delighted to sing and entertain.

This reminds me of something haley's high-school music teacher said about her:

"She’s not one to look for praise, she just loves any opportunity to sing, and it shows when she performs. I always have fun when she’s singing, because I feel she’s welcomed me to enjoy with her what she loves about singing."

I am not a big Idol fan since I mostly like new songs (not covers) and usually follow alternative artists like Jack White, Metric, Fun.  I stumbled on Haley by accident on Idol since my daughter is an Idol fan. She kept mentioning Haley and I finally paid attention and found her voice, style and sound amazing.

I only watched Haley's season of Idol and mostly paid attention only during her performances.

I've watched Idol off and on, but Haley's season was the only one I watched from start to finish, the full season

I was upset too, T-Man. It wasn't handled well, at all. But Keith is, ultimately, so perfect for Haley, that even though I still chafe a bit at the way it (sweeping Neara out, which essentially was what it was) was done, I can't say that I'm unhappy about the outcome. He's so good and he really provides that combination of rock, R&B, jazz vibe that Haley needs.

Well, that's cool that he "hates to see bands on stage not having fun," but now, I don't know whether he was actually having fun (which he appeared to be having) or just putting on a show.

Her teacher Brian Logan is so right and she gets that from her parents. They rarely perform with a cover charge and don't make a big deal about a tip jar in front of them but you can easily tell they love doing it because they know the audience loves to hear them perform. They make a modest living with their well-refined high-quality talents but their value is worth so much more. That simple love of performing might be what holds Haley back from megamillions but it sure makes me love her all the more.

I am finally coming out in the open.. I confess that I posted the vids from Philly today. Sorry for the (lack of) quality since I used my iPhone and ran out of memory (sorry for the hard stop on Undone). I have never done ANYTHING like this before and stood righ up front to get a good view. It felt like Haley and her band did the LOUD version of each song...she was great as usual but in some songs it was hard to hear her voice over the instruments. My husband stayed back further and lucky him, he can still hear!
 
Getting back to the concert, I have watched all the Haley videos and am amazed at how polished and professional she performed. She was filing in for another performer at the last minute and most people were there because of the race and not to see her. Regardless, she seemed delighted to sing and entertain. It was nice the hear all her standards plus "Now That You're Here" which I hadn't heard live in a while. One observation about her covers, HTRS and Oh Darlin... which were outstanding...when she sings them she really seems more confortable moving around and rockin out compared to when she sings her own songs. I guess this will come with experience.

Since Listen Up! came out I have been addicted like allot of you reading this.

Let me allay your fears...I think what he said was more a philosophy than something he forces for the performance (you make music for a living..have fun!!)

... I had that in mind when I turned my camera for a few secs of Keith in LA on NTYH... I watched him for a lot of the show and he was having a blast the whole time, closing his eyes...grooving and smiling... That's why I turned my camera to capture a bit of it.
( He and Johnny exchanged many 'can you believe this' knowing looks/smiles at each other )

I think they are all having a blast with it...and why it's good that Haley's band are young and still enjoying their talent and the music they make, just like Haley is
