Note to auditioners: Unless you plan to kill it Haley Reinhart-style, avoid Adele.

The girl wasn't half bad at all though. She had a little yodel here and there and I can see some of her attitude being simlar to Haley's. She got all the way into the song and connect to lines in positive , not angry ways... ..
... she's also petite and has nice thighs she's willing to use to flirt with !

The girl, Jennel Garcia, is holding a video chat tonight...answering questions. She apparently stated she doesn't like Haley:

I checked this girl out because someone tweeted that she looked like Haley. She "just turned 16."

Takes the stage at the 1:30 mark.

So who's watching? I know that I won't be getting invested in any of these kids but I really like the rap group Lyric 145, even though Simon cheesed up their first live performance, gag!

Observations:

1. Jennel is not a convincing rock star, she has no edge or power.
2. Jason Brock is basically Adam Lambert's pudgier older brother, they've turned him into the joke contestant though it doesn't work as well as Wagner/Ryland/Jedward cause he can actually sing.
3. It's very clear that Simon is literally calling ALL the shots.
4. Khloe as a host is very hit and miss, the first night she was ok, the 2nd night she was a disaster, Mario is pretty good though.
5. Vino Alan put made a move on Khloe by putting his arm around her.
6. Jason Brock made a move on Mario by grabbing his ass!
7. Britney is going downhill as a judge and mentor, she's becoming like Steven Tyler.

My 2 favorite contestants are Beatrice Miller and Carly Rose Sonenclar (is that how you spell her name?)!

My dark horse is Beatrice Miller, she has a maturity beyond her years when she performs. When she isn't performing, she transforms back into a 13 yr old. I usually wouldn't think of backing someone so young, but there is 'something' about her performances that is refreshingly organic and with an unmanufactured depth.

Carly is also extremely talented, but like someone had posted on mjs, she does remind me of Jessica Sanchez, in that she hasn't grown into her talent, yet IMO.

Beatrice's 'something' puts her ahead of Carly for me.



The only other act I can get behind is Lyric 145....I'm not much into rap but there is something about Lyric that says she will be a Star in her own right. (I do think that teaming her up with the two guys does round out her act, for now. They perform well together even if just thrown together.)



The rest, I don't really care about, mostly because I think alot of XF is predetermined and presctpted.

BTW, I'm not sure if I 'like' Janell that much, but I can't be sure. Mainly because of her stated opinion that she thought Haley was stuck up and obnoxious... I can put that off to youth and naivity, but, she will soon enough know how it feels to have unjustifiable things said about her. She too will have her misguided haters.

So it's hard to have a non biased opinion of her, because most of the edits I've seen on the show, make me think that she overplays her doe-eyed innocent turned into sex kitten act... So far she is 'best' with the 'sex kitten' act when she performs, she doesn't appear to have any other style of performance. I tend to think she's The Chosen One, ala Lauren Alaina, except the 'rock version'.

I hope Emblem 3 falls hard, but it looks like they will make it to the finals given the voting demographic and Simon's need to make an American version of 1 Direction.

I like Beatrice too, more so than Carly, though Carly is probably the best technical singer. I can't see Carly as a pop star though, she's very Broadway, and apparently has a Broadway background.

Because marketability is the primary concern of this show, this is how I rate the contestants:

Definitely marketable:

Arin - Usher/Chris Brown type artist
Lyric 145 - Black Eyed Peas meets Nicki Minaj & Lil' Wayne
CeCe - a curious mix of Ke$ha and P!nk
Tate - it's never too late to get into country

Could be marketable:

Emblem3 - I don't know who to compare them to in the current market, their sound is a bit dated (I think their style is called "Sublime"), but definitely not 1D, I don't think 1D style teen pop is the right direction for them

Paige - Rihanna 2.0, but only if she can pull off the outrageous image, stage presence and sex appeal which is not happening so far

The Girl Group - this all depends if Little Mix successfully crosses over into the US market, they don't have the sex appeal to become the new Pussycat Dolls, the last successful US girl group

Jennel - Kelly Clarkson 2.0, she can forget about being a hard rocker, she doesn't have the range and power for it, she doesn't have the attitude for P!nk's brand of pop rock, but Kelly's brand should be a good fit

Beatrice - I don't know, she's very young and strikes me as a singer-songwriter type, but still I believe there's something there, I hope she finds her niche

Not marketable:

Carly Rose - like I said earlier she's very Broadway, she strikes me as purely a performer, I can't see her as a recording artist in any genre, musical theater or musicals like Glee is where she belongs

Jason - well they've turned him into a joke so even his chances at Broadway are probably blown, now his only option is Vegas

Vino - it's too late to start at the bottom of the rock n roll ladder, he's too old
