RE: The Voice 2012 and a contestant almost as good as Haley

I predicted that Nicholas David would come in third just because he was out of the box with today's music. I enjoyed his covers of the classics, especially the Joe Cocker stuff. I thought Terry would win because of the preteen/teen girls. At least in The Voice they limit the overkill voting by the young girls, so a female can actually win on that show.
yeah, its a good balance they have I think. Its good to allow more than one vote to let you feel confident about casting a few extra votes for people you thought were pretty good but weren't one of your favorites you wanted to give "full credit" too.
They can get sneaky and use multiple accounts but there are things like network interface cards etc that would let them easily and rationally stop counting too many different identities from the same computers (like at the Brady bunch family of 8 they might draw a line). If you're a full freak you can get creative and vote a bit more but not have one person overwhelm the voting of 20 other people. (or more like 200 or 400 times or more than a person picking up the phone and calling once for their favorite)
Idol probably wouldn't want to copy the same thing and I think that encouraging "fanatic" behaviour in young girls is some of the whole attraction to the show for the kids.
If I were Idol I'd say the first vote for a contestant from a given number counted 10 times the next 10 counted as 1 vote each and after that they counted as 1/10th of a vote..to a maximum of 100 votes(which would take 990 times) then the kids could still enjoy spazzing out voting but not be nearly so significant.

What about the duet with LeAnn Rimes? They were both terrible.

Over 2 million views in less than two months...loved the 'Steven Tyler like' drifting off smile at the end. This is what all these reality singing shows have created, a plethora of contestants that now have a following...singer overload, and each year reloads the train.
She did a great job with that song - voice, moves, expressions. Having a good band, good sound, and high production values also make that performance hot.
Amanda used to sing background vocals for Adele as here (and very visible in the Grammy performance).
Has a go at Someone Like You
