Haley in Las Vegas - December 6th, 7th, 8th

Ahhhhhhmaaaaazzzzing......

I hope the video turned out, I haven't seen it yet. Unlike Lolla there was no intro band to see what the sound was like. The bass was pretty loud. That's my only concern.

I also stopped after every song instead of filming the entire thing so as to not have my camera cut the song in half like it did at Lolla with Spiderweb

Also lucky I prepared with back up memory and battery. I missed like the first 5 seconds of "Baby it's you" while trying to replace the card and battery.

One of the best things about these trips is meeting new Haliens I didn't know, but do know me Thank you Greg and Mona for that AMAZING poster you gave me of Haley....a very talented photographer. I hope to get one to Harry, so we exchanged contact info. Also had fun discussions with Tim from Nebraska.

We were told by the end of the show that that was the biggest crowd they'd 'ever' (?) had around the bar on a thursday night. I wanted to pan to show it, but didn't want to miss anything on the stage.

Keith and Courtney had time to shine, especially Keith on the keys...when they went into their Jazz set....it was sublime how good it was...

I asked Haley if it was alright if we got a pic of her with all her Haliens, but when the time came, it ended up being just me and Swansteel. Swansteel asked a guy to take a pic of us, but he only got Swan and Haley But Greg and his amazing camera got a pic of Swan and Haley and I, so I look forward to his treatment of it.

I just took a quick look....the sound is good except the crowd noise, and I have to really wonder if this camera is 'actually' HD, it could be better.

After I said my good byes to the other Haliens, Haley approached me and said (paraphrasing) "Hey, you got almost the whole thing didn't you?" I told her my concern about the bass and she said "Awww don't worry about it, you got another chance tomorrow (I had told her I was here for two nights) and gave me a hug (did I mention she called me Anthony? ....people in the States always shorten it to Tony so I gave up correcting them) so ya, a thrill for her to hug me and say "Thanks, Anthony"

I'll try and put something up after I edit and process it....
(Swansteel told Haley this interpretation of "Free" made him cry, so I'll put that up first, and I really like "Brazil" so that'll be next )

It's way too late for me to be up right now, since I have to work tomorrow. I just had to say what an amazing evening this has been. Haley really is a genuinely nice person who really seems to like people. She is able to put you at ease and maybe even act a little goofy (maybe the vodka tonic helped with that too). I got to shake Haley's hand several times, but I didn't get to hug her like Tusk apparently did. Maybe next time.

Did you notice her capturing the attention of casual observers? I quoted one earlier in this thread who said,, "I walked into the Cosmopolitan, saw and heard this Jazz singer...and suddenly, I understand Las Vegas."

It was a light crowd at the beginning, but as the set went on, it got larger and larger. Even though I was filming, I could hear stuff like "who is this?" "What's her name?" So it wasn't just late arriving Haliens. She had stopped many of the patrons walking through in their tracks.

I think you're right though...this might have been the greatest Haley experience to date, and I went to Lolla, Carnegie and Album debut. Lolla is a close second, but it didn't compare to how nuanced and varied her performances were (not to mention a more 'intimate' setting...for Vegas anyway ). I really loved that they had time to let Keith and Courtney have their times during that jazz set. (it went longer than 25 minutes, I think, but I wasn't keeping track.)

She was relaxed and playful, and as a group I think they actually made people stop and take note. (so I really don't need to hear any more about how Haley needs to find other musicians ) Very satisfying, and am so glad I went for it and didn't miss out on this

I get the feeling, tomorrow night will be less intimate/more people.

Two hugs...I also got one before the show when I gave her a framed photo I took of her fam @ Carnegie... she had that 'aww'/lip pout look on her face and put her hand to her chest and said "for me?"
