Haley in Las Vegas - December 6th, 7th, 8th

Okay, it's time for another of the Swan's little Haley Encounter posts, part 3 and a half (since that shoe one was so teeny-tiny :p ).

I'm calling this Encounter 3.5, but in actuality it is my very first encounter with Haley on the first night of her three day run. I had a closing shift at work so I was running a little later than I would have liked and luckily arrived at the Cosmo about ten minutes before show time. Since it was the first night I wasn't exactly sure where to go so I started heading up the stairs. As I started up the steps I suddenly caught a glimpse of Keith sitting at his keyboard and realized the show would be on the first floor. I came back down the stairs and headed first to the bar to get my vodka and tonic and then proceeded around to the front of the stage. I went up to Keith and said hello and told him who I was. He actually knew who I was as we had communicated on Twitter and he already knew I would be showing up and that I would be wearing my Pet-A-Palooza hat (he told me on Twitter that he remembered me from that event).

Keith is a very nice guy and he shook my hand and we chatted for a brief bit of time. I started heading on, when dear Haley made an appearance above me on the stage and I waved to her. My intention was just to wave and maybe shout a quick greeting, but she headed toward me so I approached the stage again and reached up to shake her hand (in total, over the three days, I shook her hand twice, got a double handed handshake once, held both her hands once and got two hugs--who could complain?).

I told her who I was but she seemed to already know and when I asked her if she remembered me she said, "Your name is Bill." I was very heartened that she remembered me, even though I have many times from other fans that Haley has a very good memory for remembering fans.

We chatted a little bit, eventually mentioning the StageIt prize and she asked me, "Do you really like it?" She got a funny little quizzical look on her face that I thought was very cute. I told her I loved it and especially the little note she wrote. (There is another StageIt related encounter that is kinda cool and I will write about that one later on.)

She also told me that other Haliens were already there and pointed over to where Tusk was sitting. You can see much of this in action at the beginning of Tusk's Wasted Tears video. Yes! Tusk recognized me from online and filmed my very first Cosmo Haley Encounter. Very Cool!!

For a first encounter this was a very good one and bode well for the rest of the event. I was off to a good start and the best was still yet to come!

LOL Swan, I was concentrating filming you, I didn't realise that she pointed my way until I watched the video.

I had met her earlier and reintroduced myself (at Tusk, but she greeted me with my name). I gave her the picture frame of her family @ Carnegie then I told her that you were coming, Swansteel, the guy that won the Stageit prize ....

I assumed that you told her that you were meeting me, and she was being helpful by pointing me out.... I'm glad to have captured that bit enough to put it at the beginning of the video LOL
I removed the audio because I was talking about something to Tim that was irrelevant, I think. I also had a few seconds more, of you approaching me and introducing yourself, but that bit was getting long and I figured people would rather watch WT and Haley performing it, so I shortened the clip of the encounter

Edit: Just watched it, it wasn't a clip, it was seconds before Haley started singing WT. You got there just in time to have your quick greeting with her, greeted me, sat down and she started singing. If you were even 30 seconds later, you would have missed that opportunity and the moment would have been lost LOL
The audio is actually me pointing Swansteel out to Tim (I think Mona was there too, I had just got done thanking her and Greg for the poster)

I love reading about these encounters. Haley is so amazing in so many ways, I just know she's gonna rebound BIG, there's no way someone like her isn't destined for superstardom.

You are so right, my man. Looking back, it seems that everything worked out just about as perfectly as it possibly could have.

PS: Tusk, the video comes up as private for me. Is there something I have to do to see it?

I'm hoping that Tusk's apparent good luck at these events will rub off on me. If he allows me I might try sticking with him.

I try not to be overly superstitious, but "Luck" sure has been a factor in every encounter I have had with Haley.... really weird...

Luckily, on Saturday I hung out with another very lucky Halien and did that ever pay off big! My friend, Pat, from Twitter was instrumental in getting us the invite to the amazing After Party.

Twitter makes me twitchy...I'm not a big fan of some of the goings on I witness and try to stay clear of it as much as I can other than using it for news or resource..... I suppose it's harmless
