RE: Haley in Las Vegas - December 6th, 7th, 8th
The power of a Haley retweet.
Of my vids, Song for my Father was clearly most popular, but after Haley retweeted someone saying they cant get enough of Haleys new interpretation of Free, Free blew past SFMF to be first to1000 views.
There was a time Free was the 'red headed stepchild' song from LU, but she seems to have reinvigorated interest with this reworking....at least among her fans.
(Moanin' might have got there, 1000, first, but I posted it later than the other two)

RE: Haley in Las Vegas - December 6th, 7th, 8th
I really don't feel like going to sleep quite yet so I may as well jot down another episode of... The Haley Encounters.
This Encounter occurred on the first night, between sets. Haley was by herself on stage so I approached her stealthily, like a mountain lion on the hunt. I'm just kidding. Actually, I just walked up to the stage front and started talking to her. (I wonder how she really felt about me continually coming up to her and blabbing? At least she was always polite, no matter how she really felt. ) This time I was interested in making a song request, possibly for StageIt, even though I knew the StageIt show would be Christmas themed and my request wasn't Christmas-y. Still, there is a song that I have always loved and I think would be wonderful done in Haley's inimitable style. If you know the song, wouldn't you agree that Haley would do an amazing cover of the Michael Nesmith song, Different Drum? I sure think so. The flowing melody would suit her voice perfectly.
Anyway, I was surprised to learn that she didn't know the song. I figured with her knowledge of classic rock she would certainly be aware of Linda Ronstadt's epic cover it (or for another super-dooper cover definitely check out the Susanna Hoffs version). But, no. I also added that I knew it wasn't a Christmas song but that I still loved it and I told her I've always wanted to hear her sing it. She told me she probably wouldn't be able to do it at StageIt, but did say maybe sometime in the future. I'm hoping she does look the song up and, if she does, I feel certain she would love it. (As of the After Party she still hadn't YouTubed it--I asked.)
At least I had planted the seed an maybe someday I would hear her sing it.
At that point one of her friends walked past and said something to Haley and it seemed Haley was about to head off. I quickly interjected that I had one other quick thing to say. (Yes, I know at this point you are probably thinking: "Man, what a pest!" But really, it wasn't that bad and Haley never acted put out or bothered--I'm telling you, that girl is a total and absolute ANGEL!).
This time I was actually thinking of someone other than myself (shocker, huh?) and decided to ask her about a Twitter friend of mine who lives in Peru and absolutely adores Haley and had requested that I ask her about him. I told her his name and, lo and behold, she knew who I was talking about! She was actually aware of him and told me she thought he was a sweetheart. I knew as soon as I heard this that my Peruvian buddy would flip his lid, so I thanked her and allowed her her freedom at last. I immediately afterward Twittered my friend and made his whole year. He was really thrilled. So, you see, I'm not the cold-hearted, uncaring Swan you may think. These feathers actually cover a warm and sensitive heart.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful encounter. And I admire your courage (if that is how you call it) on talking to Haley in a very easy going-manner. I mean, I don't think I can ever do that because based on my experience of meeting Haley, I was so speechless. I was only able to say three words "You're so beautiful."
Regarding, the song you requested Haley to sing, I have no idea what it is but I trust your taste in music (since you are a Haley fan) , so I believe that it will be awesome. But I will try to check that song out!

^Thank you for the video above. I tried to figure out how to include it the post and couldn't do it. That is even the video I was going to use.
I absolutely looooooooooove Linda Rondstadt and I have loved Different Drum for as long as I can remember, even before I knew who Linda Ronstadt was. Different Drum is one of those songs that I love to sing along with.
