Two Haley songs cleared to sing on American Idol

Smart girl that Haley in keeping a good relationship with AI. Quite a coup to be featured in the first two episodes on AI this year. Despite all the press about the show's declining ratings it still drew almost 18 million viewers that first night, which beats the pants off of just about everything else on TV. Good karma going into 2013. I think I learned something about Haley and her attitude tonight.

Better still, the Season 12 Chicago auditions gave us a good, long listen to a whopping 16 Golden Ticket recipients — with several legit potential winners in the mix. (They must’ve gotten good and inspired by an appearance from Season 10′s incredible Haley Reinhart, yes?)

* I know, I know…Nicki is obnoxious, but how can you not crack up when she suggests craziness like shortening Griffin Peterson‘s name to a lascivious “Grrrr” or points out his heartthrob potential with bon mots like “Bieber don’t do this to me!” Anyhow….while Grrr’s choice of “Washed By the Water” (a song I admittedly didn’t know) was a little underwhelming, he’s certainly got a nice tone and some definite charisma. In other words, Randy’s “your voice was just barely below average” feedback merely proves the panel’s longest-malfunctioning member should be sent directly to the unemployment line without passing “Go” and without collecting a copy of Haley Reinhart’s Listen Up! Or maybe he just wanted to see Nicki beg Mariah to join her in sending the guy to Hollywood.

So Far I'm really enjoying the start of this season, and it's not just because of the thrills I'm getting hearing & seeing Haley on Idol TV again! It's very entertaining and I'm not disliking Nikki as much as I thought I would. Maybe it was time for an overhaul of the judges to breathe new life into the show.

Yeah-I feel the same way.I'm actually enjoying all the judges-well,except the one that's been there too long.Should be an interesting season.Good to see Haley on TV again also.

I think Kez Ban could go pretty far...very quirky, different, great voice, nice guitar work and the song she wrote was really good. She needs a make-up artist to work on her though. I like Niki too as judge, so far. While I'm not a fan of a lot of her music, some rap songs she does do grow on you. It is not easy to rap the way she does. I would get tongue tied in a second. She is interesting and mesmerizing and smart.
Loved seeing Haley tonight. I wonder if that girl who sang "Baby It's Cold Outside" saw Haley & Casey's version and got the inspiration from that.

Thought the same thing Ronzoni about BICO and she did a nice job incorporating the judges on her need for a duet partner. Definitely a hat tip to Haley in Chicago.

As for Kezban...Mrs. Buzz thought there might be a link with 'street performer' and 'street drugs'...something seemed a little more than just different about her/him. Hopefully Kezban just needs a little help while in Hollywood...loved her guitar playing and soulful voice though. Reminds me of a street version of Crystal Bowersox.

There was an interesting [possibly transgendered] contestant named Kez Ban (Catherine Sourbeer).
Kez Ban's twitter feed indicates she may have albums of songs but lacks the means to produce them. Interestingly, like Phillip Phillips, she may have found Casey to be an inspiration. I say that because she responded to a tweet by Casey in December.

Kez Ban is about to be interviewed on our local FOX morning show. I'm recording it. Also speaking of Casey Abrams I just bought a ticket to his Stage-It show for January 24th @ 7:30PM.

Thanks for posting the video of Haley's segment. It was longer than I recalled. Haley really is "world-class talent." She just needs more exposure outside of Idol.

American Idol viewers know that Chicago has been a lucky city for the show: Jennifer Hudson, Haley Reinhart and season nine winner Lee DeWyze all hail from the area, and Thursday night’s show crackled with anticipation.

...Of course, the show produced Reinhart in the flesh as the season 10 alum greeted the hopeful contestants with a flashy smile and a pep talk.

“I remember when I was sitting in that seat over there,” she said.

Okay, so I broke down and watched Idol last night (I SWORE to myself I was going to skip this year). Darn, I actually enjoyed the show. The judges weren't bad (Keith was actually more likable than I thought he would be) and some of the talent was interesting (Kez Ban). Phoo--I suppose I'll be watching afterall.

By the way, I missed the first half hour of the show so thank you for posting Haley's part.
