Angie did "Anyone Who Had A Heart," but her heart didn't seem quite in it. While she'd come across as too theatrical in the past, it seemed her attempt to take the judges' advice to dial it down resulted in her dialing it way down--and she ended up, well, phoning it in. Her vocals were pretty much flawless, but emotionally, she flat-lined. I kept imagining how much better this would have been if, say, someone like Haley Reinhart (or Candice Glover) had taken on this song.

Janelle is becoming a non entity, but never underestimate that country fan base. After all, both James Durbin and Haley Reinhart were robbed a deserving spot in the Season 10 finale because of this massive voting bloc.

I’m a hardcore conspiracy theorist when it comes to Idol — and tonight I was struck by a bone-chilling realization while suffering through some shoddy camera work that too often focused on the back of Candice’s head. No matter how much the judges praise Candice’s performances, they never mention looking forward to her post-Idol albums or concerts. In their feedback, Candice only exists within the confines of the competition, and it makes me worry that it’s a not-so-subtle campaign to undervalue the most creative, most daring and most vocally spot-on woman in the Top 5. (Hmmm…didn’t Haley Reinhart get the same treatment back in Season 10?)

This is not unusual for Mr. Slezak -- what's unusual is when he doesn't mention Haley.
