RE: Two Haley songs cleared to sing on American Idol
LOL! Depth filled, indeed! Nor would that seem to a message that the former PTB would have wanted to be heard on this "family show"
I find it interesting that of the long list of Adele's cleared songs, Rolling in the Deep isn't among them.

RE: Two Haley songs cleared to sing on American Idol
I'm surprised Stefano get's songs on the list and not Casey.
As manic as he can be at times, Casey's lyrics are vastly superior to the Smaltz coming out of the Langone pen, not to mention Casey employs a quaint thing called 'melody'
I still listen to this short, cute, 'one off' song he wrote w/ lyrics provided for a valentine's contest, the melody and execution, the song sticks in my head, doesn't matter the lyrics

I think music, like most mass entertainment, goes in cycles.
There will be a reaction to the status quo that grows then becomes the status quo which causes it to lose it's edge, becoming less relevant, giving in to the next status quo.
There will always be a market for well crafted, sometimes intellectually and emotionally challenging song writing.
A fraction of a fraction of 7 Billion population is still a healthy number, enough to make a living in music for as long as you have talent and passion for it

While, personally, I'm peeved that this list of songs is a list of those who performed them, rather than composer/lyricist, it would explain why sometimes the songs are not necessarily attributed to the correct "artist."
On the other hand, since they've decided to go that route, they should add Harry Connick, Jr. to A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square.

So, if you are interested in said market, you might want to check out Spencer Day. Sometimes his lyrics are so sophisticated I think he might be channeling Cole Porter.

While I'm generally in favor of almost any media attention given to any of Haley's songs, I honestly hope that none of her songs ever make Hoda's playlist. That was just about the dorkiest bit of promo I've ever seen. I mean, I think these two ladies could've knocked Dark Side of the Moon off the charts in the 70's if they would've been around to give a promo like that. Stefano might as well just go ahead & change the name of "I'm on a Roll" to "Mom Jeans".

But Kathy was unimpressed. To get a lift, they should have planned on showing a shirtless Stefano and both ladies "oohing" and "ahhing."
That's the nature of pop music. I paused this video to watch a TMZ report that asked if Jennifer Lopez was transitioning from "J-Lo" to "J-Go," as in "letting herself go."
I really don't understand the "approved songs" list. Anyone can sing anything. Is it a matter of Idol negotiating in advance for favorable terms in regards to royalties?

Yeah, It could've been even cheesier. It still made me cringe though.
"J-Lo to J-Go" Wow! I think maybe universities should start taking their graduates' journalism degrees back for things like this.
