I think I read this news somewhere on this site but here is some stuff about Lauren.

Idol's Lauren Alaina wins New Artist of the Year

A year after Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery won the first ever New Artist of the Year award at the American Country Awards, his runner-up, Lauren Alaina, won the second trophy ever given in the category.

I'm happy for her. Great job Lauren!! If Haley had as many fans as those country singers do, she would have won best new artist too!

I hated Lauren on American Idol. But for whatever reason, I learned to love her after their season. So I am happy for her too. The same thing I would feel for whoever American Idol alumnus wins an award (esp.Season 10).

Scotty won last year and Alaina won this year. It's a fan-voted award so those results may not be so surprising. I think nearly everyone would agree Lauren's lost weight since she was on Idol (and looks better). Is it my imagination or does she have a stronger Southern accent than before?

Haley don't go country She has that red neck good old boy assent. she sounds the same. Can't remember where she is from The Carolinas???? Georga?? the deep south But the Girl can sing, I;ll say that for her

Lauren wasn't one of my faves but I'm very happy for her, she's worked extremely hard this past year and a half.

I loved Lauren and Scotty (my favorite top 3 ever.) Although Lauren's fans got to me a bit on IDF.

But I never blamed her for that. It was clear she adored Haley. (Probably idolized her a bit.) One of the cutest things on idol was when Lauren looked like she was more excited that Haley made the top 3 than Haley. And after she (and Scotty really) stuck up for Haley while she was competing with her, I'll always root for her to do well.
